Thanks for all the help. I havent tried the shelf cause i have been filling all of them with meat. I do football with a bunch of friends every Sunday. I will add a small hole under the pellet tu e and let everyone know how it works.
it is about 6 inches from the burner and the only air source is from the burner. I am thinking of useing a hole saw and core a hole right under the tube. Do you think it will effect heat?

I have 2 Masterbuilt XL propane smokers and just swithed to using the AMNPS 12"" tube. I get it lit and get the meat on with no problem. I built a bracket so the tube is elevated and air can get all the way around it. i just cant keep it lit. It goes out in about an hour. I open the door...

If the Pork Butt has enough marbleing then cut the cap off and smoke it. I have had some lean Butts that Ill keep most of the cap on to give that flavor that only fat can give.
