Being empty-nesters, we finally ran out of left-overs from our family gathering last month and decided to try a warm weather smoke on a small turk about 8#s. My mind is slipping cause I couldn't find my brining bucket so I went for a smoke straight out of the plastic vac package, what the heck...
Here in S/W. MI. you never know when spring or fall will start. Did my 20 buckets of assorted veggies in the basement in Feb. and March. Everything is fertilized w/ road apples. Haven't been on the site that so I've gotta ask, where did ya get your bacon seeds?
Steve, I make mine the same way, bacon, tomato and MIRACLE WHIP, no rabbit food. Had to laugh when I saw your post. An hour ago I mention to the wife about the color starting on my romas and sandwich tomatoes in my bucket garden, can't wait.
You really restrained yourself. lol. My Better-Half was gone for 3 weeks and I went Bat Guano crazy with my P.B.
Couldn't have said it better. Thanks for sharing.
Ever forget where you put something? At my age it happens more and more. For instance last week I was cleaning up after a little cook and decided to CLEAN all probes, built-ins and wireless. After cleaning parts both in the house and in the garage where my P.B is stored, I came up one part...
Been there, done that. Had a major brain cramp/senior moment on a re-light, completely my fault. That's why you ware underwear.
Oop's just had another senior moment. Mod's, feel free the delete this post.
I bought our Pit Boss 820 back in Feb. this year and have since burned over a 120# of Comp. Blend and 100# of apple. We like a softer wood smoke flavor. The combination of the 820 and their branded pellet gives us what we like. Nobody in the family complains and neither do the neighbors when...
Cook in progress,
Up-date on menu, I forgot about the tater salad and the smoked beans. Over slept this AM but the chili and the beans are in the P.B. cooking low-n-slow. No big rush on grating the smoked cheddar or harvesting freshest cilantro available.
It took 8 months to put it all together but my wife and I finally are having 3 out of 4 sons home at one time. Our oldest one re-tired from the US Army last fall and this is his 1st trip home.
With 3 sons, families with LOTS of grandkids I'm getting a head start on the menu. With burgers and...
I ain't got room for any new toys in the shop with both of my smokers in there plus all of my woodworking toys. I'll just have to settle for my 15 year old 20" saw w/ widow maker chain.
Growing up back in the 50's and 60's I've seen more changes then I can mention. Remember pumping petrol during a gas war for $0.17 per/gal. And my 1st. six-pack was bolted to the top of my intake manifold. We respected our parents AND teachers or we got the crap beat out of us.
In my humble opinion, any salmonoid is great smoked. Whether you use slab, chunk or steaks, I like a wet brine over nite but each to his own. When grilling I'll break out a couple of slabs of spring caught Silver Salmon aka Coho. Damn it, now I'm hunger.
