    it was lump,and I just got it started on the edges ,put in pan then outdoors to the grill. had to fan it but got it going without lighter fluid!

    forgot to mention when your fire starts going down ,use tongs and get 4 or 5 hot coals and put in your chimney starter then put coal out of bag on top . these start the new coals quickly.

    lighter fluid? no no no!!! like most people said, a chimney starter w/newspaper etc. works great. when I had my stickburner I used a propane log lighter, even a disposable propane torch works. once I was away from home and they had lighter fluid, I put charcoal on the kitchen stove burners...

    like PIGNIT said, doulbe wrap & put in oven. sounds like briskit's close, pork being stubborn.when briskits done and wrapped,crank heat up and make that cook, i've done this many times. briskit, yes it will keep temp for hours wrapped and put in empty ice chest

    the young guy turned in entry's he had learned from johnny trigg because his own recipes were terrible . he went to trigg and asked him how to cook bbq, at least he paid attention!!!

    How and why did you first start smoking meats?

    I got started by going out to eat bbq, and kept being served stuff I would be ashamed to serve anybody. so I started experimenting at home and the rest is history. took classes, bought books, etc. and now I get paid for bbq!!!

    why is brisket chopped and pork pulled?

    chopped briskit point ,and not the sawdust looking stuff some call "chopped" , is excellent w/sauce on a soft white bun. maybe it's a regional thing I don't know. what I do know is if it's done right , pulled , sliced, burn't ends ,it's just great eats!!!

    I actually done one this way cause I kept hearing about it, I was surprised because it was good. not that I would use it competetion, but on a sunday dinner no problem. salt,pepper & garlic powder.

    It is truly a reality show, these people are paid . why do you not see these other people at awards when their teams name is called? their not part of the "reality show". A friend of mine was at the royal and watched them do 11 takes on one scene with myron ,just to get that intimadator feeling...

    I get to stay home and still get paid but it not by choice,due to early medical retirement. but any day BBQ'ing is better than any day working.
