Thanks for the nice words folks...
She's not crazy about the squash, but she loves potatoes and knows she has to eat the veggies if there are to be any sweet treats after dinner
Yep, it wasn't bad - $1.99/lb. We got that bad boy for $10 and we'll get two dinners out of it. I had about a pound...
Thanks RaceyB. I'm not the most scientific of minds, but I think I understand what you're getting at and I have possible solutions that I'll work on. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I'm having trouble with fires starting in my wood box when I use woods that I've collected myself from trees (as opposed to chunks or chips that I've purchased). It has happened to me twice already - once while using some small branches of hickory and yesterday when I tried to use some small...
Funny, seems like chuck roasts were being smoked everywhere this weekend. This was my first try at smoking it. I just rubbed the meat with EVOO and sprinkled on some Alpine Touch seasoning from Montana that I got in an exchange with TasunkaWitko - man, that stuff is great on beef! I smoked it at...
HA!!! Watched that game today - at least it was one hell of an exciting game! Can't complain about any game that comes down to a field goal attempt in the last seconds of regulation. The Ravens made a heck of a comeback, so I was rooting for them to win it (I don't really have a rooting interest...
I'll be trying the chisoxjim abt method next time around...those look so good! And the nachos...perfect football snack!! I take it, you're a Bears fan?
Those look great. I haven't tried beef ribs yet, but I'm thinking I need to look for them after seeing a few of the recent posts. Is there a reason you shredded the meat rather than just chew 'em off the bones? Did you use it for sandwiches or something?
I think I'm going to smoke a chuck roast on Sunday. All of you Floridians, Publix has chuck pot roasts on sale for $1.99/lb. this week! I think I'll grab a couple. Should be great smoking weather in the sunshine state this weekend, sunny, dry and low 70s - at least here in north central Florida!
Hey, welcome from the swamps of Gainesville. Yeah, a shame that the Jags home games are getting blacked out this year. But, I'm a Buccaneers fan...unfortunately. Welcome to SMF and happy smoking.
Looks great and you can always add the red pepper flakes to your own when serving if you want to try it out like that. But, with all those wonderful ingredients, I bet it doesn't need it either.
Very interesting story and looks like a great recipe. Thanks for sharing. Life is certainly a bumpy road and I have an inkling of how you must have felt, as I've been in the position of having to close my own business (though not a restaurant).
I would suggest eating at least a few bones (maybe a rack?) with no sauce - you'll probably be won over to the no sauce rib camp! Looks like you have a good rub on those bones. IMO, if you have a good rub and get a good smoke on the ribs, they don't need anything else.
