Welcome aboard. Have the same temp control issues with my GOSM. Been using sand as a heat sink in the water pan, an idea passed on by bbq bubba, and it seems to help. Also had to get an umbrella for over mine to help reduce the heat island effect I was getting in the upper half of my unit.

Just finished a rack and a half of bb's. Small smoke today cause tomorrow is pack for Fri. vacation departure.
Did the ribs 2-2-1 and as you can see by pic they fell apart. Started the smoke at 9 am., outside temp 96 degrees and when they finished at 1 pm. the outside temp was 111 degrees...

Welcome aboard. Glad you found SMF. Check the threads for a resizer program. Uploads through the site are limited to 97kb in jpg format. Some folk us other sites to park and upload their images. They'll be along and bring you up to speed on these options.
Congrats on your successful smoke. You got some good lookin food there. I know all about the light smoke requirement and have been using lots of cherry myself. Doing hickory and maple on my BB's today. Nice Q-view as well.
There are also grilling pappers, which are paper thin woods you wrap fish or shrimp in for grilling. Check out a good wood supply website and it will give you the info you need to incorporate pplanks and grilling papers. i.e. barbecuewood.com
