Another MES PID adventure starting...best practices?

Yup, that's how I've been doing it, but I like the capability to mount the MES internal temp probe in the back wall and not have it clipped to a rack as I do now. One less wire/item in the smoking area to worry about. :)

Another MES PID adventure starting...best practices?

Brilliant! I never really looked at the built-in meat probe's routing, I just removed mine and saved the stock mounting hardware and grommets. I had already ordered the wall mount probe and two standard probes earlier today, so I'll probably use the wall mount probe for the ME internal temps...

Another MES PID adventure starting...best practices?

ETA on my Auber PID is Monday...thinking I'll start stalking the delivery updates and plan my drive out to a neighoring state/FedEx site to pick it up early. :emoji_wink: Oh come on, I KNOW you've all considered doing this when you were waiting for a new toy... :emoji_laughing:

Another MES PID adventure starting...best practices?

Thanks! Was there a reason why you chose the 90 degree version, vs. the "regular" one?

Another MES PID adventure starting...best practices?

Thanks...I've never checked for hot spots, so don't have any info on that. I would like to do the wall mount MES temp probe for the simplicity of use, don't have to mess w/it each time I smoke. I usually use the 2nd and 3rd racks for smoking so was going to position it under the second rack.

Another MES PID adventure starting...best practices?

Thanks, I saw your post and that helped push me over the edge. ;) Can you point me to the type of hi-temp connector you got? Did you use the wall mount probe for the MES temps, or the hanging probe that attaches to one of the racks in the MES? @holyfeld - I saw that you installed a wall-mount...

Another MES PID adventure starting...best practices?

Thanks, @dr k. What risks does removing the safety heat limit switch create? I assume one would be that if the Auber malfunctioned the smoker would max out it's temp w/out any modulation at all. Same if someone forgot or didn't know how the smoker was rewired and plugged it directly into a...

Another MES PID adventure starting...best practices?

I've tired of my MES30 not measuring or managing temps properly, so I'm taking the plunge and ordering an Auber PID today. I'm getting the WSD-1500H-W: https://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=14_28&products_id=702 I wanted to reconfirm the best practices for the rewire...

    Jeffs Rub

Did the ribs w/the original rub. Served to family directly from the smoker (after a short rest) and they ate w/sauce for dipping at the table. 100% high-fives all around - I was congratulated for my excellent work. I may have forgotten to give Jeff credit... ;-)

    Jeffs Rub

Purchased! Thanks very much. I have a few rubs I like very much, but glad to support Jeff a bit. I have a beautiful big rack of spare ribs in the fridge that will be the test case for Jeff's Original Rub! :)

Split view - how remove right-hand side

I have a split-view of the forum showing up now that I don't like, tons of wasted space on the right. How do I turn this off, go back to a view where I just see the forum posts, not my profile stuff on the right?

    RIB TIP TACOS

^^^This...regular issue in my house as well. I'm usually wanting a few levels of fuego above my wife. :) Those tacos look great. I've got a large rack of spare ribs that I may take the same approach with...

    New PID delivered early.

@hooked on smoke - looking forward to hearing how it goes with you. The one thing I've seen from other posts here and on the app store is the Auber app that you use with the PID over Wi-Fi cannot give alarms unless you have the app open and the screen on. Seems to make the app pretty much...

    New PID delivered early.

Is that this one? https://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=14_28&products_id=702 I was going to ask if anyone is using it. I'd like to order one for my MES30, but wanted to hear some feedback from anyone that's used it. @chopsaw - do you have one?

    Vortex Ribeye

I kept looking for the correction from 1 minute per side to something reasonable. ;-) Wow...I think we need a new superhero named "VortexMan" or something. :D
