did you keep a cover on it? I've had mine for 4 years I think now, keep it outside, and so far so good (though I had a hose go bad, but replaced it when I added the needle valve). burner is still original, cabinet is not rusting nearly at all anywhere. I keep mine under the charbroil vinyl cover...
mine is propane, so it gets to whatever I set it. fluctuations in ambient air temp/sunlight/wind will affect temp as well as the meat heating. I have put sand in the water pan to gain a larger heat sink, but I think I may need more thermal mass to really help with the temp. its not a huge...
huh, for some reason loin chops command a crazy premium here.. I can usually get a rack of ribs cut into chops for about 6 bucks per pound (sometimes more, sometimes less). whole lamb for ~2.60/lb and about the same for shanks. i'll have to contact the slaughterhouse and see if they have any...
what kind of range are you getting on it? and what android phone(s) did you try? seems like at least a Samsung compatibility issue, if not more from what I have read.
i just don't sear prime rib roasts, only steaks... roasts are all slow cooked. there is the most minute of crusty bark on the outside, but its mostly about the tender, wondrous inside. yum.
i have a few more roasts in my freezer, maybe i'll have to take another out and make it, making my mouth...
that's why I generally end up sticking with king crab legs if I'm doing the simple crab thing.... next order of preference: Dungeness. I only do the blue crab thing when I'm in the Chesapeake bay area for work during the crabbing season or buy a container of the crab meat already picked for use...
I hear ya. I have a 5.5 year old and a 4 month old... and a boat and job that likes to send me places around the country.... I literally squeeze bbq between dinner parties (and sometimes during if its close enough that I can scoot out for a couple minutes to check here and there), sometimes...
i wish i was leah's neighbor... man i love seafood. thanks for sharing, the food looks remarkable!
being a midwestern boy, I've never done anything but the simple with crustaceans.
in our area, pork is very cheap. I am surprised by what some people around the country pay. beef isn't too bad either though some cuts tend to be pricey compared to other areas in the country (though this is changing), and lamb is relatively cheap, as Detroit has some large slaughterhouses for...
btw, Meijer had them marked for 1.19/lb which aint too shabby either. so if you are in an area without a Kroger but with a Meijer (I know, its mostly Michigan with a few exceptions in northern Ohio, maybe Indiana) ya still have some cheap shoulders in your area.
