No first hand experience but I have read on here that they can back up. You just have to wait it out. The oven @ 250 is an option too if necessary. I wouldn't toss it.
Falling apart after two hours in the foil has been my experience too, that is, after I learned to leave them alone for the first two hours. They get spritzed once at the hour mark.
This was with BB's not spares, haven't tried spares yet. Good luck. Looking forward to seeing the results.

I kept getting a bunch of spikes this past weekend which is obviously too much fire. It is definitely a "hands on" sport.
I saw that the other day when I was looking at their site. The 11 ga steel is less than half the thickness of their others. But so is the price. Nice looking smoker though.
