I do not see why it would hurt a thing. As for covering when done you could just put the stack on temporary so it can be removed easy!!!!!!!!!!!

DC welcome to smf. Be sure to check out the free 5-day ecourse as it is very helpful. the GOSM is a nice propane smoker also as I enjoy mine. Remember ther are no stupid ?'s and remember patience is a virtue when smokin!!!!!!!!!!
Congrat and best of luck with the new toy aaaaa I mean smoker. I like mine and with a couple mods it will hold a low temp for jerky and fish!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wirenutt, Glad the mod worked for ya. If I set the dial on the front of the smoker to the lowest setting and back the inline valve down I CAN MAINTAIN 150* which is great for fish jerky and things of that nature!!!!!!!!!!!Again good luck with all your smokin adventures and thanks for the...
