Here is a set of ribs I just finished up --
I spent the entire day up on the roof of the house working on ripping off and replacing the roof around the chimney.
Thanks to Todd and the A-Maze-N-Smoker, these didn't require any attention from me at all for the smoking.
I get to have perfectly...
I'd agree with that idea about making sure they're dry.
Someone else commented that the cherry pellets are much harder to keep lit, and they mix with other types.
I find that the smouldering AMNPS takes a bit more airflow than you'd think, especially if there's any competition
for the oxygen...
I use an AMNPS with my CharBroil gas grill.
I have only had a few minor problems with the AMNPS in terms of keeping it lit.
As I mentioned in the other thread about a clone version, I think that's about making the pellets super-dry in an oven if you want to, and providing good airflow.
After...
I'm thinking drying out the wood dust/pellets helped most...
I store my pellets indoors inside ziplocks, and sometimes still get that 'won't burn' thing with the AMNPS and other weaponry I use pellets with.
Seems to always be the pellets, or sometimes the airflow.
I once was trying to build...
A friend of mine is considering getting a Weber Kettle
He's considering whether to use a Smokenator with it, or I'm recommending an Amazen.
Personally, and it's only IMO, I feel that it would be a PITA to have to remove the food, grill grate, etc to get at the Smokenator,
whereas the AMNPS...
I usually pull out the grate and burner just so that I can have the smoker below the meat.
I want both to be away from the heat, and I was having a harder time arranging things on the lefthand side of the grill
to fit the smoker _and_ the meat so that both were away from the heat from the...
Good point on preheating the pellets...
I also heat the grill up to about 250 beforehand, since I don't care to put meat into a cold smoker..
I will try the blowing gently on the embers to keep them going..
I was heading towards building a fishtank airpump driven injection smoker, and so I...
Hi all -
I'm a happy user of one of Todd's 6x8 Amazen smokers --
But I'm having more trouble keeping it smouldering along than I think I should have -
I'm sure it's my technique or something, and I just need some advice..
I use it primarily with my CharBroil Commercial series grill -
The...
I've posted a few other comments with pictures, but those came up needing moderation, so some mod will have to allow them.
I guess it's because I attached pictures -- although the site also seems to think I'm offline, and I'm certainly not! :D
That may be what I'll have to do -- move the water bowl one level higher, and put the chips in a pan directly above the element like that.
Or not soak them.
Is that pan sitting directly on the element? Seems like that'd be a shock hazard, though maybe the resistance is enough that you don't...
