I cold smoked some sea salt in my MES 40 using an AMNPS. Threw some coarse sea salt on one of the screen trays I made and let it go until the AMNPS burned out. Probably around 15 hours. Put it on at 11am and it was still smoking when I stumbled in at 1am. Thanks to the best DD ever... my wife...
I had been having odd results from my mes 40 using the mes probe and internal temp probe. I used my own probe and first checked it's accuracy in boiling water and in an ice bath, it was spot on. My next smoke i put my probe in and I let the mes get up to what it said was 225° however my probe...
It sounds like the igrill2 only works on ios. I'm on android... I hate when they do that. The temp graphing would be nice to see. And for the unit and 4 probes it would cost the same as 2 mavrick 733s which is what I am debating adding to my collection of smoking toys.
I have the above mentioned 4 probe thermometer and only use it for steaks on the grill. It doesn't actually show the temp of the probes. It shows RARE MED WELL to indicate the doneness of the meat with 170° being the max temp. There are 3 bars within each temp zone indicating the progression...
Great review! I'm looking to invest in a remote thermometer and have been eyeing the 733. I'm not gonna lie... I want to get 2 so I can have 4 probes. Too bad mavrick doesn't have a 4 probe model.
