I'll be firing it up next weekend. I'll do a follow up about how it goes. I'll be doing a pork butt & some st louis style ribs. if anyone else is using this set up let's hear from ya'!
well I guess i'll find out how it works cuz' I bought it. came with the Cajun bandit smoke ring extension, coal ring, coal baskets, heat diffuser, & a weber cover.
I have smoked on my 22" weber as well. here's the grill i'm looking at. the grill without the Cajun bandit ring sells for around $400.00 which at that price it looks to me like you're paying $200.00 -$250.00 for the table.
a charcoal model weber performer the Cajun bandit extension came up for sale here. it also had a heat deflector, charcoal box, & charcoal ring. this has all the best features of a weber grill but the extension ring still looked limited size wise. anyone here have this set up? I'm also wondering...
brinkman makes an electric version of their vertical gourmet smoker. I see them on craigslist fairly cheap all the time. because they filed bankruptcy brinkman parts are not available at this time.
this looks like a decent smoker. I asked on another thread but are some of the older brinkman offset smokers heavier gauge? I've seen some photos that look like they are. the new brinkman trailmasters have the exhaust stack on th same side as the offset chamber. the older ones have the stack on...
from what I could see gaskets at the lid & where the 2 chambers connect a some better charcoal grates would take care of what this smoker lacks. lowes wants $428.00. wal mart has it for $288.00 online BUT if you read the fine print even though it says free shipping with in store pick up they're...
I've read that charbroil bought out Oklahoma joe & cheapened up their smokers. is that true?? I just saw a 700 something cubic inch model with the side grill at my local lowes. it looked pretty heavy duty compared to the charbroil model sitting next to it.
I have an 18.5 weber WSM on the way but i'm looking for a grill too. what do you think an older Oklahoma joe longhorn smoker is worth? it looks to be in good shape.from what I've read the pre-char-broil grills/smokers are good units after some minor modifications.
I'm a good cook & have a lot of grill time under my belt so I believe I'll get a handle on this smoking. part of my problem for longer smoke times is my smoker. I just sealed a deal on a WSM smoker so I think that will change shortly. the brinkman gourmet I've been using does an ok job for...
does the longer smoke time render the fat? one thing bout the slow cooker is the fat gets rendered. the wife hates fat & rendering simplifies culling the fat from the meat.
once rain hits ash it's going into whatever it's on. if it's in your compost it will go to the soil below it. it's better to put it directly on the garden.
thanks for the input. I did a couple for 7-8 hours but I guess the temperature was too low. I was afraid of drying it out. finishing it in the slow cooker works ok but it's just the same as a fully smoked butt
I've read the sticky & so many other threads that my eyes are crossing. my question is that when I've smoked a butt intended for pulled pork it comes out like a roast. it slices well& tastes great but it won't pull. I smoked them low & slow, with & without foil, seared & not seared. what am I...
