    Maverick XR50 Wireless Comm Problems

Has anyone experienced communication problems between the transmitter and the receiver? I'm planning on contacting Maverick to report this issue but wanted to know if this is a common occurrence. I received my XR50 about 10 days ago and last night was only my 2nd time using it. This was the...

Consistency across the smoking chamber - simple mods

I'm pretty dang late to the party, but I just got one of these elbows to fit in my smoker (GMG Daniel Boone) a few minutes ago. I just cut a slit, not even a 'v', into the crimped end. I was able to finagle into the stack without much trouble. I then used a second elbow and adjusted it so...

Did you sell your gasser after buying a pellet grill?

I'm giving my natural gas smoker (Masterbuilt 40", converted from propane) to my neighbor since I bought a pellet smoker last weekend. I'm keeping my natural gas grill though, they're for different purposes. The only thing my Masterbuilt does better is hold more cold smoking stuff. There's...

    Identify this cut?

The smaller ribs were ready in time for dinner, but I had to crank the temperature up to 275°F in order to get them done in time.  I took one out of the smoker at around 203°F and the other at 201°F.  The flavor was great, but they were a tad dry. The larger cut wasn't ready until about 9:30 PM...

    Identify this cut?

Well the big guy went in at 6 AM, covered in salt and pepper  Will be putting the smaller ones in around 10 AM.  Want to eat at 7 PM, so I should be able to get about 12 hours of heat on the bit ones and up to 8 hours on the small ones.

    Identify this cut?

Can anyone identify that larger cut? I went to a local butcher shop a few days ago and asked for some short ribs from the short plate.  I've never smoked or had beef ribs before.  I knew they are much meatier than pork ribs, but this was a total surprise when he came back with this massive...

    Awww rats!

I was wondering how long it would take before I got this!  It's crawfish season man!  I boiled 70 lbs of mudbugs.  I should get a pass for that, especially from a hillbilly. Truth is I haven't smoked anything in a while because I left my controller out in the rain.  There's a thick layer of...

    Awww rats!

Thanks guys.  as stated above, I sprayed the inside with oven cleaner so whether or not that was a good idea its already been done.  I just cleaned out the inside and while it isn't clean-like-new, its cleaner than after the first time I used it. I'll go light it up and let it run until I go to...

    Awww rats!

I was about to put 3 racks of ribs out on the smoker for dinner and I found a rat nest and a single, big, fat rat in there.  I pulled the racks from the smoker and put them on my propane grill and have it going full blast.  I removed the nest and the droppings and then sprayed the inside of the...
