I've been using the Weber Connect Smart Grilling Hub for some years now, but it keeps me frustrated.
I love the Wi-Fi functionality allowing me to see temps from anywhere, but it has some quirks and bugs.
Which Wi-Fi thermometer would you recommend?
I'm a stick burner and smoke pork butt with hickory for 8 hours at 225F then wrap and put in the oven on 210F for 7 hours. Turns out super smoky, tender, and juicy.
Been doing this for decades. Does anyone else use this method? Found any ways to improve upon it?
See pic. This is what I do with my digital thermometer when smoking in the rain. It works fine but I worry about the probes. The instructions warn to not let them get wet.
Any of you have a better suggestion?
SIL has a pellet and the butt was pretty dang good. Was surprised actually. Mostly wondering if i could do the same with a pellet but add a little more smoke flavor. One of the earlier comments had me interested in researching smoke generators.
Considering a Pit Boss pellet smoker but I like a HEAVY smoke flavor. Which pellets are known for producing the most smoke and the heaviest smoke flavor?
Thanks for the suggestions. I checked them out.
The Fireboard looks interesting. Might try that.
Tappecue seems terribly expensive and they don't do a very good job of marketing their product on Amazon so I'm thinking no on that one.
No, I'm not referring to Wi-Fi. I would, however, expect Bluetooth at a minimum.
I want to be able to monitor my temps from my phone from the comfort of resting my sorry ass on my sofa watching the game. LOL
I've owned the iGrill and iGrill 2. I don't have any issues with the device, but the probes supplied by the manufacturer (now Weber) are inconsistent. I received 3 new probes recently and each one delivers a different temp with as much as a 15-20 degree gap between them. I reached out to Weber...
Has anyone here smoked pork belly before? I searched all the forums for 'belly' to no avail.
I saw this photo on Twitter, but did not include a recipe.
