    Found Tank New Build

When I built my big smoker, I buy my steel from a welding and fabrication place. What they suggested to me was 3/4" expanded steel. They said it was what people use for cooking chikens on pits with. I had made a frame with 1" angle iron and welded in a ctr brace. I cooked a 100# hog on it with...

    UDS Build in Progress

I installed a 1" ball valve on mine with a two inch exhaust. Works great. Once you reach desired temp you shouldn't have to touch your valve or valves and leave your exhaust open while smoking. I put a rain cap on mine that will still let it breath though. I also installed a set of wheels on one...

I would like yer mamas recipe please...

I love corn bread. I have tried the box mixes, they just don't taste good to me. Then again I don't like store boxed foods any way. I grew up with home cooking, and I do home cooking. I make my own cornbread from scratch. This past winter I entered a chowder and chili cook off at a nearby winter...

Char-Griller Smokin Pro with firebox- Mods

I would not use any type of paint on the inside of any part of your smoker. I would be fearful of fumes from the paint getting into your food. On my smokers I bought a cheap spray bottle at WalMart. I filled the bottle with vegetable oil. I bring the temp up on the smoker with it empty in the...

    Steam Cleaning Grill or Smoker

The only way I clean any of my smokers is with a hot fire. I have three smokers now, for the time it takes to get those layers in the smokers. I would never dream of washing them out. The more build up in a smoker the better the food taste.

I also got some good ole VT Maple the same way from some one. I saw hem cutting it down. I said hey if your looking to git rid of that I would be interested in it. They kindly said if you can have it gone by the end of the day it's yours. I went back about an hour later, they had it all cut into...

    buying wood chips

For my apple wood, While driving around one day. I saw a huge pile of tree trimmings from someones small personal orchard. I stopped and asked if by chance they would be interesting in getting rid of some. I had told the nice older lady what I wanted it for. She then said help yourself and take...

    Lang 84

Not to sound like a A_ _ Hole. I can't see spending that kind of money on that. If I had the kind of money laying around that the are asking, I would build one hell of a custom smoker and hang my head proud that this is my smoker I designed.

I might have a really good UDS lid idea...maybe

I have on of the 90A HF flux core welder as well. I picked it up 2nd hand from a friend. I have expierence with other name brand welders as well. Once you get used to using the HF welder you will do fine. Another tip to welding thinner and thicker metals together is, on the thinner metal use a...
