    Another 120 gallon reverse flow

Hinges are done. I like the angled look I'm going to cut off the corners near the pivot so the don't stick out. Also picked up some heavy chain to use for the CC hinges. Going to figure out how I want my latch tomorrow. Kyle

    Another 120 gallon reverse flow

Door is getting close to done. Vent is finished. Liking how the cable setup is functioning so far. Got the gasket in place. Going to start on the hinges and latch next. Kyle

    Compact reverse flow

Looks great. My only question is do you get a hot spot from the firebox being completely underneath the CC? Kyle

    Another 120 gallon reverse flow

Got the door fabbed and welded up. I'm trying to do this build with as much on hand or scrap material as I possibly can. Hence the 3 piece door. It warped a little which I'm not really surprised from all that welding. I'm going to put it in my press and see how close I can get it back to...

    Another 120 gallon reverse flow

I'm doing the door like an air tight wood stove with the rope inside a channel on the inside of the door.

    Another 120 gallon reverse flow

Made some more progress. It's all welded up. Just needs a lot of grinding. I never intended to cut the bottom so far down the tank. But it was the only way I could get rid of that double wall inside the dome weld. Ended up using 3 pieces of flat bar to fill that up. I can't bend something...

    Another 120 gallon reverse flow

I'm all about looks and I wanted the door coming out of the dome so it is what it is now. Kyle

    Another 120 gallon reverse flow

Since the smoker I've been working on is on hold waiting on the trailer I started another one to replace my 60 gallon RF. This section of tank is what I cut off the tank of the other build. This is probably the last time I'll put a door in the domed end. Was a pain to mark the opening and I...

First smoker build need help,60 gallon air tank

That's the measurements we were talking about earlier. If your going to go with 5.5" height. That's what you need to notch the tank but add the material thickness into that. If the tank is .250" wall and your using .250" for the firebox cut the tank at 6". When I did mine I set the tank on...

I couldn't figure out how to copy the link for my thread on my phone so I just replied to it and bumped it back to the top. Look through it should answer some of your questions. Kyle

First smoker build need help,60 gallon air tank

Kam's numbers are pretty much exactly what I used. I may have changed my FB to CC opening to 5 3/4" tall. My opening has no grease bridge and is the same width as the inside of the tank at 5.75" from the bottom. I wish I had gone with a 20" firebox as the 18" is a little cramped and ashes...

Both and I add chunks every 45 min to an hour and a fresh lit chimney every 2-3 hours depending on outside temp. Kyle

It's what I had so I made it work. The plenum was 3/16" wall 6" square tube. Kyle

I built a reverse flow from a tank the same size as yours last year. I used an 18" square FB. I used 4" ID pipe for my exhaust. I'll look and see if I still have all the numbers I used on mine. Kyle

Question about cc and fb opening

That coating is really hard to get off and will offgas the first time you get it hot enough. Cut it outside. I built a vertical smoker from a tank that had that liner, it makes nasty fumes but only once. Your welder also will not ground through that stuff so you have to grind it off anywhere...
