Good idea olewarthog. I raised my inverted ash tray with the side hangers until it was just high enough to cover the sfb opening, and had good results with my first smoke. Your way would get rid of the side hangers, and also the little sway that my ash tray had if you bumped the grill...- st barnard

Here they are, rubbed and ready to smoke. Ahh, the thin blue smoke. Unfortunately, it wouldn't last for long, as the temps were cool, and the winds were almost gale force. Had to stay close and monitor all day long. Talk about falling off the bone tender, I broke up the first slab...- st barnard

Hey guys, I've got my first try at a smoke going. I rubbed down two slabs of spare ribs, wrapped them in saran wrap overnight, and am smoking now. It took me forever to get the temps up to 225. Another newbie
Just wanted to say howdy from East Texas. Been using a gas grill for about 15 yrs. Before that I used an ole Cajun Cooker I believe it was called - an upright thing with a water pan. Wife just let me pick up a "Chargriller Duo" for a Christmas present. I hope she lets me use it before...- st barnard
