    Smoking with Eucalyptus

I have tried to look for scientific backing as to why eucalyptus is not recommended for smoking/grilling. Most of what is posted mention that eucalyptus is a sappy wood that will emit smoke that may be toxic. Then you find something like this...

    Smoking with Eucalyptus

Don't do it. Eucalyptus is not suitable for smoking or grilling even though it is an excellent wood to use in the fireplace.

    Smokin in So-Cal

This is great! I used to live in the Townhomes by the Royal Buffet on Wardlow between LB Blvd and Atlantic. That was during my days in McDonnell-Douglas. From there, I moved to Thousand Oaks.

    Pulled pork ?

If the ultimate goal is pulled pork........shredded........, then I think jrsmith80 said it right. Finish it off to 200 degs, then just heat it up on Saturday. You can even shred it before hand and place it in a pan, then heat it up at the cabin.

    T-Rex Bones for Mother's Day

The small piece was almost fall off the bone. The big piece was tender-tuggable.... I gave a piece to the Rancher and he loved it, so I'll be in for more ribs soon!

    T-Rex Bones for Mother's Day

You can say that again. There were 8 of us and we tore through the small piece really quickly. We ended up getting through about a third of the way through the big piece. Which left us with about 3 bones worth.

Good place to get a Big Block GOSM?

That one is the regular GOSM (check the dimensions - only 21" wide)......not the Big Block (which is 24" wide). Now....the one that Beer-B-Q posted......that is a Big Block.

Good place to get a Big Block GOSM?

Thanks for the info......... Looks like the GOSM as a product is now a collectible item since they are no longer being made.

Good place to get a Big Block GOSM?

From what I have seen, Walmart, Lowes and the like have the narrow vertical smoker which is what I already have. I would like to get one that is wide enough to take an 18 lb packer without having to cut the point from the flat.

Good place to get a Big Block GOSM?

Bass Pro shows that both GOSM sizes are unavailable. Are there any other vendors that sell them?

    Can't find wood in L.A.!

I have not read that about Walnut. From what I have read, it is simply recommended that you blend walnut with a lighter smoke wood since walnut can be overpowering and bitter. So.......if you mix walnut with say....apple or cherry, you should be fine.

    Can't find wood in L.A.!

Don't know which part of LA you are from since LA is huge. In the San Fernando Valley? In Chatsworth on Topanga Canyon, north of Devonshire offers a huge variety of firewood, Oak, Citrus, Walnut, Apple. You choose. Other than that, Craigslist. I know of someone who owns a Cherry farm who...
