I was thinking it wasn't a good idea that's why I had to ask. Thanks.
I'll upload some pics either Friday evening or Saturday when I am done smoking it
Got a good amount of responses quickly, thank you all for the tips. Definitely going to do what everyone here recommended. The last time I did it and let it rest I put it in my crockpot with the lid on. I probably will do that again this way the juices are already in the crockpot, shred it after...
Hey everyone,
I am having family over this weekend for labor day and I have intentions to make ribs and pulled pork. I want to smoke the pork butt on Friday but I am not sure if it is a good idea. I want to do this because to racks of ribs on my smoker will take up the right and middle grates...
Any chance you would mind sharing the tweaks you made?
I came across her "Best Dry Rub For Ribs" recipe, used it the last time I smoked ribs and good Lord it was amazing!
I am going to be doing 2 racks and a pork butt this weekend.
Seems like a smart concept I can see how it could work a lot better than just having that open area that's much larger than that shape. I do have a whole other set of grates, the original ones that came with the grill or a little bit rusted so I contacted Char-Griller they sent me out the new...
It's funny you should mention that, I just bought my daughter was messing with me and was watching what I was doing decide to open up the firebox door and throw a rock in there I did find a rock in the mix, and it was a pretty big one. Good to know that about them.
That's what I'm liking doing right now between the seasoning and I currently have some wings and some mac and cheese in a cast iron skillet on there. I'm loving this lump charcoal over the other charcoal, seems like it lights fast and it smells a hell of a lot better. I did forget to put them on...
I'm almost done with the seasoning of the grill, I did notice the imbalance with the heat as I'm seasoning it obviously I knew it was going to be hot or closer to the firebox so I didn't even try the aluminum pan with the water in it type of baffle while I was doing this I'm going to have to try...
Thanks for the reply and the videos, I'm going to give them a watch once I get a chance. I'm almost to the point where I feel like going to the only hardware store that I can find close by and buy the kiln dried oak logs and see what type of smell they put off as opposed to the ones that I got...
I have the seasoning process going right now, I picked up a bag of lump charcoal, a mix of oak and hickory and this smells better than the wood I bought and was using initially to smoke it. I don't know if I got sold the incorrect wood or not.
Hey guys, I'm new here just posted my first post yesterday and just wanted to get a verification of anybody could help me here to figure out if the wood I actually bought from the source I got it from is oak, I have attached the picture. Thanks.
I just did everything seenred told me to do and I'm getting ready right now to season it again after I did all the power washing I got the Kohl's lit just waiting for them to get to the point that I need them. I bought oak and hickory hardwood lump charcoal yesterday I was at Walmart and saw it...
Thanks for the video! I was seeing some people talking about getting a deflector shield I even seen one being sold or one of those websites for smoker modifications They want $90 maybe down the line I'll grab that but I've seen a couple videos where people were saying just put your aluminum pan...
Thanks for the info. It seems like for the most part it's all just trial and error learning your smoker and how to get the fire just right while keeping an eye on it. I just don't want to make so many errors that it's going to deter me away from wanting to do it at all.
I wish there was a...
Thanks! I cannot wait to learn this process. As I mentioned it seems like there is a good deal of information out there and all over the place, for instance, I watched this video (it's time-stamped) and he was saying at the part I have it time-stamped at that he doesn't use the dampers because...
I bought a cheap one not about to go out and spend thousands of dollars when I don't even know the process and thank God I didn't because clearly I'm doing things wrong right off the bat lol. I just happen to be in Home Depot when I was doing remodel for my bathroom and came across the...
Hello seenred,
Thank you so much for the detailed information that you provided me that's exactly what I was looking for because I feel like I definitely did it wrong and after reading what you just told me I definitely did it wrong so I'm going to have to try this process again unfortunately...
