    My first smoke

Welcome to the smoke club! On my ribs, I prefer to use yellow mustard and then rub on the seasoning, let rest for an hour then put in the smoker. Cook for 2 to 3 hours on the grates, then foil last 2 hours, pouring a quarter can of coke in about each rack every hour. Quick and easy, total...

120 gallon reverse flow trailer build

Not really, let me rephrase.   When you open the cook chamber doors all the way open, do you have door stops that prevent opening the door past a certain point?  If so, please describe or show images of how you accomplish this task.  I have a stop bar attached to the back of the cook chamber...

Pork2go 120gallon trailer mounted reverse flow

I like the idea, I just don't want to be the guy that has to figure out the math to get a proper fire box size and cimney size. LOL

Pork2go 120gallon trailer mounted reverse flow

Pork, I don't think you have anything to worry about. I think your grate steel temp will be a lot higher than the temp those springs will ever reach, unless your coals decide to start leaning on the door. You could always shorten the springs if you get bored. :o) I do prefer the...

My first RF smoker build from a propane tank

Hello Pork, Thanks for the kind words and you're very welcome on the input on your cooker. Like I have said in the past, this forum is probably one of these MOST open, information sharing forums of any kind. Giving back to this tight community is something I owe the group, because it has...

My first RF smoker build from a propane tank

Hello all, I wanted to thank each and every person that takes time time to look at my build.  This is the culmination of my love for smoking food, the massive amount of time spent drooling over YOUR builds and the deep burning desire to build one from scratch on my own.  It's a 120g propane...

Tools you like to use building smokers

Very welcome Phil.  It is the least I can do, because everybody here shares openly, I am more than happy to do the same! Saw your PM, I sent a reply. Wishing you many happy smokes! James

Tools you like to use building smokers

May I make a suggestion on the door?  Draw your door/doors on the tank, then mark where the hinges get welded.  Cut those lines first, then give it a few to cool.  Then weld your hinges. After the welding, go have a beer or a meal.  Then go back and cut the no more than 1/3 bottom with a 1/8"...

120 gallon reverse flow trailer build

Nice build so far, do you mind sharing how you did your door stops? I have a friend who wants double doors to cut door weight an avoid counter weights, but is asking me to help with a door stop setup different from mine. Thanks in advance

Pork2go 120gallon trailer mounted reverse flow

Hey Pork, Glad you're back to working on the build. Going with the larger tires was a smart option for your build, seeing as you have a large warmer box, it adds more weight capacity.. On my build, I didn't have as much weight and needed some extra clearance, so I just flipped my axle to...

I think I may have done a bad thing - a small piece of galvanized pipe in my build

So this morning before work, I couldn't help but satisfy my curiosity and see if the galvanizing comes off under heat. So I fired up the Acetylene torch and heated up the pipe to a nice orange glow. Not only did it smoke a lot, it left a white powder residue on the driveway and the galvanizing...
