What smoker type is best and why?

Thanks. I installed a smoke stack extension (exhaust pipe) last night and wanted to season it before using it so I figured I'd start a fire using the minion method and see how that works. 2 birds on stone thing. I love the minion method!! I have a perfect 225° for 4 straight hours with no...

    Butt and bristket?

Thanks again. I have a chargriller with SFB so no top rack. The grilling area is quite large though. I could probably do 3 buts and 2 briskets at once if I could afford them. I think I will keep it down to the 1 of each for now besides if I did all of that at once I would have to wait longer to...

    Butt and bristket?

Great thanks. I just don't want to wreck it. Seems like the smoking part for both is the same just the timing/IT is different so I though it would be OK but I figured the only dumb question is the one I didn't ask followed by a screw up.

    Butt and bristket?

Is there any reason not to smoke a pork butt and a brisket at the same time? I am thinking of doing that this weekend. It will be my first brisket.

Hello from Minnesota (where most think ketchup is a spice)

I can see that bridge from my house. Nice job. The Mexican place is still there. I've never eaten there. May have to give it a try.

What smoker type is best and why?

Thanks for the replies. I will certainly try the minion method next go round. Some day may have to try a WSM. I like to smoke salmon also. I have done it on a brinkman and it was good but difficult to control the brinkman. No vents! May have to try it soon on the offset unit. It will be...

What smoker type is best and why?

I think taste outweighs a bit of tending any day. So even with the smoke form chips in the electrics and gas there is noticeable flavor differences. Is it like gas grill - vs - charcoal? If so Charcoal hands down for me. I had been thinking that the flavor was in the smoke of the chips not the...

    what is the kiss method

We have used that term (KISS method) for years to describe various things like night fishing cause when you can't see anything you had better have kept it simple or else you'll have a mess and that's stupid.

What smoker type is best and why?

I'm not trying to start a ford vs X thing but please input on what is the best type of smoker and for what reasons. I have a chargriller pro with SFB and like it but it requires a fair bit of tending to the firebox and I was just wondering if others were better in that area worse in others etc...

Hello from Minnesota (where most think ketchup is a spice)

I'm from Delano. Thanks for the warm welcome from all. When I was a kid I thought ketchup was spicy and onions were too hot. Now the hotter and spicier the better. I didn't know what I was missing. I guess it's all what you are used to.

Hello from Minnesota (where most think ketchup is a spice)

I'm new to this site and BBQing in general. I've only grilled with gas until a couple months ago. I picked up a Chargriller Pro deluxe with SFB. I have never had as good of steaks, burgers and now pork as with this smoker. I have found a new passion in BBQing. Hopefully I can contribute to this...

1st attempts at Pork shoulder...3rd times the charm

I just read Meoweys sticky on pork shoulder. I hadn't seen that before the 3rd try but it appears I had it pretty much as he said. This is a great site. Thanks to all.

1st attempts at Pork shoulder...3rd times the charm

First Off I'd like to say hi. This is my first post here. I just got into BBQing recently. I picked up a Chargriller deluxe SFB unit. Never having smoked a pork shoulder but loving pulled pork I read the cooking recipes in the manual of the grill(big mistake) and proceeded to smoke my 1st...
