Ya MG's probably right about the wattage of the element, just looked on some sites and they look to range from 2000W to 3500W depending on what model oven you have. I think your still ok. I'd try the element already in there and see if it works for you. Let us know how you make out.
You may still be able to use the oven control too, just might need to rewire a little. Can you post the model # of the oven? I would think most ovens still control above 170°. So it would just take longer to reach with less power to the element. Above 170° it should still control and turn the...
I'm not sure how many watts the element is in an electric oven, but if it is say 4000W (should be at least that) you might be ok. At 120V into it your looking at about 1100W.
Here's a link to a pretty good ohms law calculator.

Nice score! I had luck this year too. Got a pickup load from a old timer that lost some apple trees in last winters ice storm. He needed someone to help clean up. So cut down the damaged limbs and trees, got to take the wood .
I wouldn't be using a regular trash bag, some manufacturers even use deodorizers, UV stabilizers or insecticides in their resins. Nothing we want in our food.
Here's what Glad Bag people say, from their site under FAQ.
Can I store food for a party in GLAD Trash Bags?
No. GLAD Trash Bags...
Mod the air intake so you can close down the air flow. The coals will only burn as hot as the air flow lets them. This also keeps your chunks from catching fire. It's all about controlling how much air the coals get.
If you open doors and let more air in it can actually get your fire burning...
Didn't really know Terry other than reading his posts. You could tell he was a good guy and will be greatly missed. Our sympathies go out to his family.
A ten minute soak in a bucket of hot soapy water, then hit it with a scotch brite pad seems to do ok. I would also think mineral spirits would clean it right up.
It will be interesting to see which they all went for. I do a couple yardbirds almost every weekend and don't brine. For juiciness, whole chickens don't need it if you pull at 165.
On the other hand, I would agree you can add more flavor with a brine. Salt is a very tasty seasoning and brining...
Laurel...one year I had 60+ tomato plants in containers and I'll tell you...I was sooo sick of tomatoes by the time mid august rolled around . Now I only do 16 or so plants and pick varieties that will ripen at different times.
Awesome project bigsal! Can't wait to see what's next, going to be on hellva smoker.
Hey JOK3R..thanks for the heads up on that little welder, looks like just the ticket for the occasional backyard job.
Better yet just scored a new one off ebay for $68 shipped. .
Think you just need to wait it out and let things dry up.
I went through this two years in a row. Lots of rain and lousy looking tomato plants. I only use containers now and the maters are happy again .
If you using an ET-73 smoker thermo, it will wake you before the flames get too high . Set the max smoker temp to a tight range and any flare up will set off smoke chamber temp alarm.
I like to sleep too . I use my smoker a couple times a week, the experience of sitting up all night by...
