I have 3 - 20lb bags of Traeger brand pellets, one bag each of cherry, hickory and pecan. I've only used a handful or two out of the hickory and cherry. So near 60lbs. I'm in Hudson, NH if anyone local wants them. Cleaning out the basement and hate to toss them if a fellow bbq'r can get some use...
Hit Craigslist for a quick cheap freezer and don't let it get you down. Do some online searching for the problem your having with your oven. Most issues are fairly common within a particular model line. Maybe something you can repair yourself, appliance are not to complex to troubleshoot once...
That article is kinda old, from 2005, guess they are still alive.
The only RO lump being stocked around here is the made in Paraguay stuff, no made in USA. More likely the business model is changing more to imported charcoal. Bought a bunch for $3.99 a bag. Burns fine in my smoker, but Naked...
I find starting at the center works best to pull the membrane on BB's. Peels right up no paper towels or trying to grip the end. Use something blunt and make a little separation, work a finger under the membrane through to the other side and tear it right up from the center.
Just...
Here's the original build thread.

And here's the change I made adding a gravity feed firebox.

If you get an old metal lined fridge with fiberglass insulation your already 3/4 done...
Make sure you build plenty of thermal mass into the bottom part of your smoker. Like a heavy plate to absorb heat and also divert the air flow towards the walls. This will help equalize temps by forcing the hot air flow to expend energy heating the bottom of the smoker before rushing out the...
You can hit up some metal salvage/recyclers for scrap stuff, usually some odds and ends laying around. Also call a few local metal fabricators and ask them if they have any scrap cutoffs you can buy. It's scrap to them and they will just take a few bucks for some nice new steel. Good luck.
Few suggestions from a novice welder myself....orientate your work so that your welding on a flat horizontal if possible. Welding vertical beads are a lot tougher. Also a good starting point for selecting amperage is 1 amp for each thousandth thick the rod is. In other words a 1/8 rod is .125"...
Just a thought...I would think with the MES sealed properly there wouldn't be enough air in there to support a fire, should have used up the little O2 and went out. Maybe there were some gaps in the door seal or your chip loader wasn't in right, letting too much air in the chamber. I notice...
Dave..what your probably seeing is the radiant heat coming off the element. If I remember correctly, don't think there is anything covering the short element section that goes across from the back wall to the housing. The IR heat coming off the glowing red element has a direct line of sight to...
I did the main box of my insulated smoker with aluminum sheet. Basically ended up with a Stumps style gravity feed weighing in around 325 lbs. Cooking chamber is 20x20x43.
Just another option for cutting down the weight.
If you want to know about anything related to Stumps clones, check out...
For me it's BB's over spares. A lot less fat and connective tissue. Too me they taste better. I have done plenty of both and hands down everyone has liked the BB's better. I just bought some at Sams Club for $2.99 lb, not a bad price.
I also find foiling is not necessary to get tender juicy...
I give the bottom of the chimney about 40 seconds with my propane torch (reg plumbing torch) and it gets it going pretty good. I also didn't like all the fireflies from the newspaper.
