    Where is the smoke ring?

Yeh, Let me clarify first. I cooked these ribs on an electric smoker = no smoke ring. I cooked last week (Brisket and Ribs) on a charcoal chargriller. The smoke was a nice thin blue smoke, since I did the 3-2-1 I only needed the smoke on the electric smoker for the first 3 hours. The...

    Where is the smoke ring?

I just bought a gourmet electric Brinkman smoker just because I wanted to try it out. I have the little red charcoal Brinkman, and a Chargriller wsfb, but I really needed for personal satisfaction an electric one. (Yeh right) I did two racks of bb ribs and used 3-2-1 and man were they tasty, I...

Hey what did you use for the bottom of your basket, I noticed Cowgirl made a complete basket out of the expanded metal, but your bottom looks like steel rods or something.

I looked all over the char griller mods and I can't find any instructions on how to creating the basket, I will search again. That is the problem, the coals are getting choked because of lack of O2, but its a pain trying to dump coals and all I would like to remove just the ash and keep the...

    What's your occupation?

I used to program IBM Mainframe Assembler but now I am involved in Business Analyst which concentrates on the process more than the actual application. Strange occupation for me as I am about as hillbilly as it gets. My father and Grand pappy were both union pipefitters but I didn't want to be...

Putting my recent modifications to the test

Still working on the software, but checked the grill and closest to the firebox I am a consistent 230 and by my far end I am 205. I would like it to be a bit hotter but that could be the fire or a fact that I don't have enough wood in the smoker but 25 degrees I will take from front to back.

Putting my recent modifications to the test

OK its been a while but, I just couldn't take it anymore. I have my smoker on the porch in the rain in Cincy about 38 degrees and I have followed the advice of some of the members and I am going to smoke some spares today with a few modifications to my smoker. I added some venting to the stack...

    First Smoke with the Forum

I just bought them at Miejer for 6.99 a lb from the nut station. 2 lbs I cooked them by hill billy time (meaning honestly I don't know) I would guess about an hour or hour and half. However, I did take some tongs and stir them about every 15-20, I noticed they were burning if I didn't. Kids...

    First Smoke with the Forum

I used a half stick of butter, then hillbilly measured (meaning I didn't measure) what I liked for me it was about a TBSP of onion powder, garlic powder, kosher/sea salt, cayenne, cumin, red hot chili flakes and 2 of worsterchire. I modded a recipe that was already on the site.

    First Smoke with the Forum

Against my stubborn will and your motto "never be afraid to try something new" Here goes. Foiling the ribs I want so desperatly to have a full smoke with just wood and charcoal. FYI - for any Newbie like myself that is paying attention, got an oven thermometer as suggested by a senior...
