although you could have died from smoke inhalation.... looks like you were just seconds away from losing your garage and who knows your house or worse (lives)... looks like you saved your home and belongings... good job... very happy you are all ok.
When I built mine, I ran it to these probs too. I left the insulation alone since i didnt plan on it getting that hot. I tore out the plastic trim and wrapped the front edges with alum. and riveted it in place. along with alum wrap over any holes in the wall that I removed plactic. sealed all...
Guessing its to late for the 1st 2 ?s, but For the 3rd... I put my wheels on the SFB side it seems to move easier for me. I think the extra weight will eventually break down those cheap plastic wheels, but I plan on modin them soon anyway. hope your smoke went well.
I always dump unlit lump to the smoker side of the sfb and lit to the air intake side of the sfb. when they burn down and need to add some, I use an old coal shovel to push the remaing coals to the air intake side of the sfb and add unlit to the smoker side... the air flow will gradually burn...
