    Super mods on a drum!

    I have a drum that is 30" across and 40" tall.  An old shipping container. My issue is it is cut 2/3rds horizontally, so you lift off the top 1/3rd to remove the contents.  I think it would be a hassle to make a traditional UDS out it due to diameter. So, I'm thinking about a propane burner...

    Cleaning out UDS

    My son and I hold it upside down and shake it.  Or I'll use a wet vac with a ash filter installed.  Once a year I'll hose it out and scrub with simple green.  Reseason and smoke on.  So for so good.

    Removw from smoker @ 165 and foil.  Let rest on the counter.  After 2 hrs. I place in fridge and slice the next day.  Enjoy!

    Immersed & clean are two different things.  i clean mine.  However I do not immerse them in liquid.  I wipe the probes off with a damp soapy wash cloth/sponge.  Then wipe with a clean towel to rinse.  Don't let liquid in the cable end.  Also its good to wipe them with an antseptic wipe prior to...

    Getting close to a purchase

    I don't own either.  But read the reviews.  I started with a brinkman electric.  And got enough good Q out of it to get me hooked.  So you figure it out then get smoking.  It will all be good and you eat your mistakes.
