Newbie from MN, new smoker build, new to smoking.. I have some build questions

Ryze welcome to SMF from NW Georgia. I’m trying to wrap my head around your question about orienting your firebox vertically. I would assume you would have part of your FB extending up to the top of your tank or close. If not the fire box would be sitting on the ground? What is the diameter of...

SV Questions, Whats the Largest You've Done or Used???

talbm and fivetricks my cooler for Sous Vide is an old Coleman cooler. The size hole saw you need for the Anova stick is 2 & 3/8”. That size was readily available at my Lowe’s or Home Depot. Go ahead and jump in. You want regret it. My unit is the Anova 800 watt and it works fine with the...

New guy , just built a 30 gallon reverse flow

Nice looking build you have there! So your using totally charcoal and not using wood? I would suggest you try using some splits to increase you smoke profile and perhaps allow for longer burn times. Above all have fun! Weed eater

SV Questions, Whats the Largest You've Done or Used???

I have an Anova 800 watt. Use a cooler mod for larger cuts. Primarily roasts or multiple pieces of meat at the same time. Not sure exactly how much it holds gallon wise. Rough dimensions are : 12 X 18 X 9. I start it off with hot water out of my tap @ 125 degrees and it takes less than 10...

    Sous Vide Beef Steaks suck

Jaxrmrjmr I think I may know what part of your issue is with Sous Vide steaks. If you cook a steak SV style which has a good bit of fat content it does not render out in the lower SV temps and it also does not crisp up that fat at all. The short time searing does not usually do justice to...
