Question- Smoking time for a Turkey

For those of you that have smoked several turkeys in the past, I was wondering approximately how long would it take to smoke a whole turkey that is about 12-14 lbs at a temp between 225-250. Trying to figure out what time I'll need to start it for a noon meal on Thanksgiving. Thanks

    Looking for a Turkey Fryer

All the above advice is great. I also like, when using the outdoor propane fryers, using the 2 people pole method of lowering the turkey into the oil. I had a near miss the first time I fried one several years ago when I tried lowering it by myself.

    Purpose of this group.

I also am not a chef but would like to be part of this group to learn what I can. I love cooking and smoking meat. My Dad was a cook in the service and I have learned a lot from him growing up and helping him. No formal training, so I probably won't have much to offer but I know I will learn a lot.

pork ribs - fall off the bone or leave it with a bite to it?

3-2-1 method is where you put the ribs in your smoker for 3 hours. After 3 hrs you take them out and put them in a double layer of foil with a little apple juice. After 2 hours in the smoker foiled you take them out of the foil and if desired, you put your favorite sauce on them. Then the ribs...

    Trarger Grills

Has anyone done a comparison between the Traeger and the Yoder pellet grills. Do the Yoder grills experience the same problems? The things I've seen and read about the Yoder have been pretty positive. Of course, as expensive as Traeger's are, it would be tough to get rid of one and buy a Yoder...
