    I'm not sure about the 30" model w/window but I contacted masterbuilt  regarding the 40" w/window availability in my area (Pa.),they informed me they are out of stock until October and suggested checking out the closest Cabelas and Bass Pro Shop.

    I got the newer model and had the same issue.You need to leave the vent open for more air flow.I wish they didnt reduce the loader and holder capicity but you do get smoke and you will get white ash.I have no idea why the manufacturer changed the chip capicity but it does work.

    Thanx guys for all the info! It is much appreciated.Now I know i should leave the vent open, and I may need to tweek the chip holder to be closer to the heating element and when it's all done all I should be left with is white ash. With this info, I'm prepared for war and victory will be mine!

I'm going to try opening my vent and hope the problem was lack of oxygen.But I would like some clarification from the masses..The wood chips are suppose to turn to ash,not blacken chips,when they completed there smoking destiny, Correct?
