Thanks for all the advice. just finished off a plate off ribbs. the butt is still cooking the meat temp is still hanging around 148 -150 hasnt got there yet been on since 11:30 am.
I know yall have said put the meat on & relax ,but this my first smoke with a sfd & I'm going nuts the wind is giving me a little trouble i just have to get used to the fact IT'S SLOW COOKING thnks for the help . going to post pics if I can figure it out
Tried to do a search on times. What is the time frame for a butt about 7.5 plbs. to get to to 140 meat has been on for 1 hour 45 min. worried about the time line those germs. thnks 4 the help.
started my fire in my cg pro in the sfd. I have taked a chimmney full of charcoal & still having trouble getting the temp down below 250 before i put the meat on. any ideas ?
the mod is to make a basket out of expanded metal to put the charcoal in. its about 14" x 13" x 3" to 4" deep I think the deeper one would be better.I got the idea from bugeater.ne.He has a char griller pro . It looks like it would work great. That guy tried it & said good things about it.
if you cant get the to skin crisp try putting coals under it 4 a few min. or n the oven on broil 4 a few. I have a dry rub to go on beer chicken if yall would like it. really good. nice birds by the way.
My 1st smoke on my cg pro was beer but chicken with a memphis dry rub. It was good,but it didnt have in all parts of the meat not sure why. Any ideas. sorry no pictures yet my camera is on the fritzbut there was nothing left of the chicken but bones. tomorrow I'm going to try to smoke a boston...
