I heat my pellets up for 90 seconds.. stir and heat another 90. Put the amazin in the bottom of smoker and leave the feeder tube out. Has worked well for me.

Looks good. I was just toying with the idea last night of scarring the tops of the butt but I backed out today. I have about 130lbs cooking out there right now for an event for tomorrow. Times are good.
I like your attitude on the situation. Wish I could say that I would feel and act the same way. Your walk is on the right path.

I just bought a new Mav to replace the one I have had for around 8 years. One of the probes is off by 30*. It has a 90 day warranty.. still waiting on Mav to get back with me. Sent them an email two days ago.
I'm assuming you DO still leave the water pan in even though you don't put water in it? It does work good as a baffle between your coals and meat. I always just line mine with a new piece of foil before the cook. When done, just throw it away. I've also filled water pan with sand and covered...
Go with the 22". I have the old 19" one and the food grates are only 17" wide. It gets pretty tight on there when you really cram it.
Reliability.. I've had mine for around ten years I guess. Still as good as the day I bought it. Cooks like a champ and can cook long hours unattended.
I personally like oak or hickory for butts and brisket. I would put the butt on the bottom rack with a full pan of water under it. The brisket is going to finish faster than the butt most likely and it would be easier to check it and take it off if it is on top rack. There is also going to be a...
I had mine do this a few days ago. I was doing some of the mods to get more smoke. I took the divider out from between the element and the chip tray. Drilled holes in the chip tray and then went to test it out. Seems like about five minutes later, I hear a whoosh sound and see the smoke blow out...
I'm not a professional on making summer sausage by any means but do you think it's possible since you didn't ice bath them this time, that they continued cooking until cooling down enough? My last batch had a few that the ends were hard on. I believe they over cooked on the ends because of how...
I just wanted to give Couger78 a thumbs up for the Teriyaki Jerky Marinade recipie. I've got some finishing up on the MES and tried a few pieces. Delicious. I may have to hide this from the wife and kids if I want any of it to last.
Had a very successful deer hunting season so there is plenty of ground to test on some new snacks.
A few weeks ago I came across some clearance items at Academy and picked up several boxes of Hi Mountain Sweet & Spicy Snackin Sticks for $2.99 a kit. These are usually $19.99. I figured I...
