POISON or How to Kill Them All With The Grill

Steve - I got the charcoal at Walgreen's. It comes in a pill bottle in capsules you have to open. I plan to make it again but without the charcoal, it is so fine and jet black, like toner for a printer. Try without and set a little aside to add charcoal if you want.

POISON or How to Kill Them All With The Grill

So I used your Poison recipe this weekend on some pork ribs. Dude, this stuff is awesome! I am going to try it on beef next. I am going to try a batch without the charcoal, boy that does make some black.  Almost renamed it black-magic! - Eric

    Newbie smoker in the desert

Well I'll have to lean on you a little for that. I tried a turkey breast and it certainly wasn't what I hoped it would be. I didn't have it all the way cooked for starters. Lol

Can I split a pork butt in half and cut down on smoking time?

I hacked away and the realization I am neither a surgeon or a butcher became very apparent. They could call me The Butcher but not a butcher! :)

Can I split a pork butt in half and cut down on smoking time?

How does it matter if there is the shoulder bone in? I was planning on cutting my 8 lbs butts in half to reduce the babysitting time, and hang with my two boys more. Will I need to remove the bone? Those are really great pics, by the way! thanks!!

Well look at that, good to meet you. What a great weekend for wafting some smoke in the neighbor's yard!

    Newbie smoker in the desert

Great. I plan on smoking a couple pork butts this weekend. If you happen to see excessive amounts of smoke around Shea and104, don't be alarmed, I'm still practicing. :) Watched a few videos on bacon yesterday, I think i can do that. Super simple looking. Need to find a butcher somewhere...

    Cut cook time

So, from a rookies' brain, can I cut a pork butt in two equal pieces to cook for less time in the smoker? Thinking that a little more surface area and smaller density it will cook faster. Do you think i could expect a little less time chasing temps and more time chasing my two boys?

    Newbie smoker in the desert

My wonderful wife gave me (us) this last Christmas, a Masterbuilt Pro gas smoker from the HomeDepot.  I was a little intimidated at first, but tossed some ribs in, dried them out pretty good and decided I could do better.  So I started reading online and found that this is by far the best forum...
