Hey Troy, thanks for the welcome! I had no idea about Duff's. I have won meat from the meatshop on the way to Rochester from the AV Legion. Glad something is closer. Hard to find specialty cuts of meat. Does Diff's take preorders, for instance, if I need a leg of lamb? Those are impossible...
I am doing a pulled pork for the first time this weekend. I want to try this finishing sauce, but we don't have that brand of cajun seasoning here. What can I substitute?
Thanks for the ideas - I like storing in crock and then reheating... same with vacusealer. I do have one of those.
I have seen mention of using the drippings, putting in fridge for fat to go to top and harden and remove.. is that used as a substitute for BBQ sauce?
I also found the...
This is what I am worried about. I don't want people having to wait since I'm a newbie at this. I'd rather have it done, pulled and reheating when people arrive.
New to smoking. First smoke was a pork butt for my husband and I. Second was at a friend's house... yes, took the smoker... and did Sweet and Spicy Chicken wings which were a HUGE hit.
I am having a Canada Day Party on Sunday. I have 13 people coming over and will be attempting pulled...
Another Canadian here, live in the US, but from Calgary. Glad you weren't affected by the floods! Many of my friends have been displaced.
I haven't had my smoking disaster yet. I'm sure it's coming!
I am Cathy, live in MN and new to smoking. I have always wanted to order the MES from QVC, but never did until my husband said he wanted to give it a try.
Our Maiden smoking Voyage was a pork butt from Dadgum II... the one with the rub and mustard. It was very tasty! The 2nd attempt was...
Hi Danny,
Thanks for the tip. I hear you on the chicken. Actually, the lower 2 racks were seasoned with a hot rub and the top had little to no rub for those who have no taste whatsoever ;), so it looks like they were different cooked temps, but they really weren't. All went on at the same...
Thank so much for the welcome and advice, Stan!
We definitely need something for the drippage. It is a pain to clean that bottom every time. I don't mind the sides, and as I have read, it keeps the smoker seasoned, but the bottom and in summer months, I would think it would attract critters...
We bought the Masterbuilt 3 Rack electric smoker from QVC a few weeks ago. Our first endeavour was a pork Butt from Dadgum II and it turned out great - the one rubbed in mustard. We have found quite the learning curve with the smoker in terms of time to cook, heating, temperature gauge etc. ...
