Sorry - I was not ignoring you intentionally....
Believe it or not - I have seen lots of the tubular rib box designs on Craig's List. You may need to search a few of the large BBQ areas of the country - ( Txas cities, Kansas City area...so on ) but you will see the pics that help with the...
I am new here and have posted very little, but from what I have been reading, I have to agree with wingman here. Just my 2cents
I think you will find that another attitude exists here you may not have picked up on yet...."If it ain't broke - WHY try to fix it? "
Not to pick at either of you - but...really guys, what a cheap shot!
We can ALL likely make a product or a knock off of a product cheaper than we can buy it, but that really guts the incentive of someone like TJ to want to produce newer better things - doesn't it?
If you like the concept...
Nice looking design. But, while you are at it, why not route that exhaust thru a vertical rib box? You could set above the firebox, and leave enough of a gap to not influence the heat in it from the firebox...
Just a note about Yoder...They are not a new company - and have a well known, lengthy history in building BBQ pits. I don't remember the year they started selling pits - but seems like it was well before there was a Treager pellet grill.
The pellet grills are a recent product - but the owner of...
If you are shopping brands - as I do see all of the others mentioned - you really owe it to yourself to look at the Yoder pellet smokers/grills/ These will hit 600 F, or hold low temps under 200F and everything in between.
They are also the heaviest built - and ALL Amercian made ( o.k. - the...
So...what you are sayin' Todd is that MADE IN CHINA is a good thing???
...I mean - they have been BBQ'ing for 5000 years....That is a little before we invented it here in the good ole USA..... Just teasing you about that statement...WE have become known world wide for our BBQ - I think that was...
Just got my 640 yesterday Grumpy! Just starting to play with it. What do you find to be the difference between your controller temperature set temerature, and actual pit temp?
Thanks,

If your only choice is the lesser of the two evils...then, yeah the MES is the better of them. But the MES still will require tinkering, and modding to make you happy - from my experience....
Having had both ( and the Bradley took "flying lessons" off my deck...and it is a LONG way to the...
Great lookin ribs and MOINKS!
Question about the Guru: I understand that the fans/thermocouple work to keep the temp UP to the set point, by acting to "fan the fire" a bit.... But, what about temperature rise? If you have a flare up, or for any reason the temp rises above your target temp...
The only problem I see is the mace...For cryin' out loud that stuff burns if it gets in your eyes...At least it did when my ex-wife wanted me to get off her porch..... Just kiddin...I could not help it....
There are a lot of different things that the " hard core" Big Easy users are doing.....
Hope it is o.k to refer you to the forums that seem to be very popular for this subject

You will find there are many threads about the original Big Easy, and...
I think caution is needed when saying "any wood"....Just sawing/milling cedar, and many other "aromatic woods" can make you very sick. I would not recommend anyone use pine for another example, for a few reasons, including - it will make you sick... I think I understand what you meant -any...
Dan:
Sounds like fun - please post when you will be having another event. Would enjoy attending!
I suppose I was completely un-aware that the Kings Mtn park was in both the Carolinas! Still - less than 1-1/2 hr. from me.
Looking forward!

Awesome project!
I am guessing you have connections to acquire a frozen Mastadon occasionally? Because a side of beef may get lost in that thing!
Commercial adventure?

Having used gas, and wood...I actually bought a Bradley 3 years ago. And I will not look back. It has performed flawlessly - until this year, and I had to replace the oven heating element. Less and 30 bucks - with shipping, so I can't see that as an issue. It will push over 250F, if I need -...
