    Another party...

As if anyone ever needs a reason to smoke something...having a graduation/going away party for the oldest this weekend.  She is heading into the US Navy in about 11 days.  Menu this go around includes pulled pork (18# worth of shoulders to start with), about 100 abt's, pasta salad, 2 pans of...

need a replacet thermostat for the door on the CC of my new Dyno Glo offset vertical smoke

I have the same smoker.  I just drop a wired thermometer down through the chimney, making sure it isn't touching food or metal.  Then set the base on the side handle and we are cooking.  Gives same area temp but accurate.  And if you are ever concerned its not reading right you can remove it to...

Got a gift but can't figure it out!

A few more pictures from different angles would probably be helpful.  Also a bit more detail. Is it electric (as in does it have a cord)? how heavy is the cord? I can see some hinges so there is a full length door there.  IS there a thermometer?  Any sort of controls?  Would love to help you out...

Family Reunion: every year is better than the last

+1 on the reunion stuff.  Just finished our third annual "Backyard BBQ" and it gets better and better each year.  This year we had over 50 family and friends over.  Only thing we have asked anyone to do is bring swimsuits, chairs, appetites, and smiles.  It is usually a busy couple days to get...

How many of you use your water pan in your smoker?

My bullet smoker I have always used the water pan, and same for the vertical gasser I have.  On the other hand, the offset vertical charcoal I picked up recently did not have one designed in.  After an issue with the first smoke on it I went out and bought a cake pan that would fit on one of the...

    It's almost party time!

Pulled and in the fridge!  All four looked beautiful!  Couldn't pick any of them up except in pieces and the fat cap stayed right in the foil. One after resting... And pulled.  Even put the bone up there since she was so clean!   Guess I will catch some sleep and start again tomorrow!

    It's almost party time!

Well, 4 butts all within a half a pound of each other. two done same time 8 hours 55 minutes.  I moved the two in the bullet over to the offset after those two came out to finish.  Bullet was ashing up again and didnt want to mess with all that for no more than needed.  Anyway, third came off at...

    It's almost party time!

Pleasant surprise this morning.  The new smoker that has given me nothing but fits so far has decided it will work with me today.  Keeping great temps and with the heat baffle now installed temps are consistent across.  My old tried and true bullet on the other hand got a little cranky.  Choked...

    It's almost party time!

This weekend will mark our third annual backyard BBQ and party.  Started out small and has grown a bit each year.  This year the menu has grown a bit in addition to the head count.  Currently in the house is 28 pounds of pork butt, rubbed down and resting in the fridge for smoking tomorrow (see...

    First disappointing smoke

Here is a decent pic of firebox to cc.  First thought is to make a deflector using the bolts just above the upper hole.  It also seems like alot of opening for the airflow. Outside view with firebox air vent overall view showing stack vent.  This does have an adjustable damper inside.
