The crockpot should work in theory. You might want to fire up your grill and give the picnic a light "charring" before putting it in the crockpot. If you get a newer crockpot that has a temperature probe, things will be even easier for you.
Also check the package to see if it was not already seasoned. There seems to be more products out now that have been previously seasoned like whole turkeys, chicken breasts, shrimp, etc.....
They have a lot of cool things, including culinary items. I used to make a regular stop anytime I went to Calgary or Edmonton. The only issues I have with them is they are not open Sundays and their sales items are usually sold out before I got their flyers.
It's back on the Walmart online site again. Wasn't a few couple of days ago.

Home Depot Canada has them online, with a Broil Mate as well. Both have store sku numbers so they should ship to store.

Here's a general knife primer presented by Alton Brown. It's an 11 minute video. It's nice to see some nice toys (knives) in action. I'd love to be able to afford all those knives.

Forschner knives are made by Victorionox. I work in a pork processing plant and they are what we use. We do have some longer Swibo butcher's knives which are made by Wenger. Wenger and Victorionox are the two government authorized manufacturers of Swiss Army Kinves (SAK).
The "wonderful"...
First of all, decide on what knives you need and focus on those. I agree with what was on America's Test Kitchen (ATK) that you should buy only the knives you use. Knife sets are generally a waste of money. (I include time and space as money).
If you ever go to a traditional Chinese home...
Not sure if this is what you mean, but the galic plant does flower while growing. These flowers are edible if you harvest them while they're immature. My parents love chives flowers. The flavour is bascially just a milder version of the plant.
Was wandering around Walmart last night an saw this on display for 99$ Can. Wondering if anyone has had any experience with this model.

All I did was operate my GOSM with some chips for an hour. I did wash the grates by hand first. Had a sniff afterwards. No off-smells. OK to go.
If I got a new smoker, I'd pressure wash it first. Probably at a carwash. No wax though
I've smoked a few pork loins. I have to cut them in half as they wouldn't fit my GOSM. It only takes me about an hour and a half to reach 160 with cooking temperature about 250. But that was during the summer. Haven't tried during the winter. Guess I'll have to try one this weekend.
Yes, when you leave meat in warm water, it will lose flavour. I'd that making soup. Rather silly setup when one goes to the trouble of smoking and bbq'ing meat.
I also found microwaving also kills the smoke flavour, though I'd have to try again to be sure.
