I am almost finished with the metal trim (stainless) around the front edges. I would like some input on using zinc plated self tapping screws to hold everything in place...including the rack guides. I have plenty of them...but was a little concerned about the coating. Any thoughts???
Josh,
Welcome to SMF. Yep...lots of good info here. It's not too late to post your build info and pictures. Everyone here loves pictures! Did you remove the plastic trim pieces around the front of the box?
Thanks guys. I'm really looking forward to getting this done. Below is a picture and specs of the heating element I will be using. I like it because it's compact and won't take up much floor space...more room for the A-Maze-N Smoker. :)
While I love my Old Country, fire breathing, wood burning Smoker...I have decided that I wanted something that was more along the lines of set-it and forget-it! Years ago I used electric bullet smokers with great success...wore/rusted out 7 of them. So I was sort of used to leaving my smoker...
Just getting started. Notice the perimeter trim panels are still in place. Contrary to popular belief...they are NOT metal. It is some type of plastic...possibly bakalite (sp). It's the same stuff as the inside door panel. It also has to be removed and replaced with metal.
I have just started a refrigerator build...will be posting pics, etc as I go along. For misc. sealing and applying the door gasket/rope, I plan to use SU5005 RTV, Food Grade adhesive/sealant. It is available in several colors, good for up to 400 degrees constant...and is safe around food. ...
Yep...should be a really good party. I am going to try some dried pineapple in my ABT's. I think the sweet should hold up pretty well...probably better than the crushed pineapple I have always used. That should help to offset the heat from the peppers.
Just got home from work...Time to cut...
