I use a torch to light mine. Don't chase the temps, just let it do its thing. Grab a smoking stone, not too expensive and is worth it! Congrats on your purchase!- lemmy

Smoking on a Ketlle BBQ
I smoke on my weber kettle all the time. I just had some thighs that turned out as amazing. I use a brick to seperate my direct heat from my indirect. I use a pan of apple juice.- lemmy
