    my next must have..

I saw one of these on a Ham On the Street episode on FoodTv. They look easy to use and seem to cook an amazing cut of meat. I would have to say I agree, a defenite must have, once the wife allows me to spend money again.

    The WOPR

So I finally had time this past weekend and last night to work on the WOPR. I will get pics as soon as the paint is done but so far I have done the following. Removed all plastic (not much) from interior as well as all rubber nubs from the rack pins. Had to remove the door seal as it was...

    Mile High Rub and Sauce

Luckily the streets by me didn't ever get him with the sand and salt, they just came through with giant front loaders and moved the snow and ice into giant piles. I hear ya on the car wash, I have one of the Mr Clean car wash gizmos and for me it works great. As for the WOPR, I had a little...

    Mile High Rub and Sauce

Smoked - My next purchase, albiet a small one, will be a food dehydrator. My wife keeps asking me not too, she think it will make the whole house smell. I am thinking even if it does, whats better than the smell of peppers, other than smoek of course. It does have a little "Italian" flare to...

    Mile High Rub and Sauce

Stars - What part of Denver are you in? I know the feeling with the snow, looks though as if we might have nice weather for about another week and a half. My backyard is finally without snow, the front has melted for the most part except for right under the big oak. I am out in Aurora -...

    MY favorite way to cook.......

I'll have to say that I must have been sheltered my entire life because I have never once thought of cooking up a Squirel or Cotton Tail. What do they taste like if anything? I have had Rattle Snack, can't remember how it was cooked but it was pretty tasty, same with Alligator. Though they...

    Mile High Rub and Sauce

UPDATE - Changed the amount of salt and sugar as I did find it to be a little too salty after family members sadi it had too much tang to it. Rub: 3/4 Cup Kosher Salt -- Changed to 1/2 Cup 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar -- Changed to 3/4 Cup 1/4 Cup Paprika 1/2 Cup Cumin 1/2 Cup Cayenne 1/4 Cup...

    The WOPR

So I was finally able to work on the smoker yesterday after work for about an hour. I have not put any vents, top or bottom, onto the unit but I did throw the 1500 W hotplate (1000 l and 500 r). After about 35 minutes it was up to about 214 degrees internal temp. It looked like it was still...

    Smoker Racks

I'll have to do some local searching to find it. Luckily my brother has a welding torch so I may be able to stiffen it up myself if I can find it. Any other ideas for rack that may work a little better? Finding the right width and depth in a premade fridge shelf could be tough.

    Smoker Racks

So I am doing a frdige mod into a smoker: http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/for...ead.php?t=3315 The fridge only came with 1 rack adn being that it was built in the 40's parts are hard to come by. I was thinking of using something similar to what Zardnok has welded into his smoker but I am not...

    The WOPR

I have a lead on another old style fridge. Not thinking my wife would like it sitting around the house so I may have to pass. But, it does work so it is very tempting.

    The WOPR

So here it is. After a trip down to Pueblo (1.5 hours each way) I finally am in possesion of the fridge. I did a little disassembly but did not take pics of that. Here is the only pic so far, I had to stop working on it because the sun is going down and I don't have a workshop. I did a...

    The WOPR

I looked in to some of the high temp paints and didn't see a lot of color choices. I'll just do a couple of test runs and see how hot the outside gets before I give it sme color. I have thought about the flame idea but i'm not so artistic and it just sounds like to o much work but it would...

    Mile High Rub and Sauce

Here is my Spice Rub and BBQ Sauce Now the portions make a lot which is fine by me cause I use both on everything so any leftovers from a smoke is a good thing. Rub: 3/4 Cup Kosher Salt 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar 1/4 Cup Paprika 1/2 Cup Cumin 1/2 Cup Cayenne 1/4 Cup Celery Salt 1/4 Cup Garlic Powder...

    The WOPR

Also, if anyone in or around Denver is intersted in a barley used electric smoker let me know. Once I am done with this project I may not have a need for my current smoker so I may be trying to get it in the hands of a fellow smoker.
