So after smoking it it became obvious that it did in fact have the point as well, just a small one. So I cubed it and made burnt ends. Heres the finished product. Sliced brisket and burnt ends! Forgot to take a picture of the whole piece before I cut it up.
Went to restaurant depot today and picked up a trio of flat briskets for 2.15/lb. They are big at approximately 9.5lbs each. Decided to do one tonight. Rubbed it and put it in the mes a few hours ago. Here's the before shot:
Best bet for TBS with no babysitting or loading chips is an AMNS. Perfect set it and forget it solution. I do overnight smokes all the time with no worries.
I thought I'd throw this out there for anyone looking for a great deal that has a Safeway store near them. I picked up an 8lb package half sliced, half whole. I've got the roast in the smoker now with Jeff's rub along with some chuckies with Cherry wood. I'll post a qview later.
There will always be some left. Some people use a few pieces of bread to get the last out. If not you can manually clear the tube and cook that portion fresh in a patty.
