    Burn Barrel Preparation

Guys, I burned the bottom third of the barrel out real good for several hours, washed the barrel and then noticed this slimy pink haze/ooze is still there. When I wet it and run my fingers over it, it comes off to a degree. I am guessing it is the liner material. I am amazed anything is still...

Thanks Y'all. I am pretty excited about my first smoke. Unfortunately the high today is supposed to be in the upper 30's and not much warmer tomorrow.

    Whatcha think of my setup?

Plan on using Oak and Pecan. I have a burn barrel to pre burn the wood, so not sure if I will use any charcoal or not.

    Watcha think of my setup?

The base is not anchored yet. I may dig a hole about 6 inches deep and set her in. I am amazed at how stable it is though.

    Log Splitter?

I just checked at the local rental shop. $60 a day for a really big splitter and if I rent it on Saturday I get to keep it until Monday. As long as I make it to Church, I don't believe the Lord will mind me splitting some of his fine wood on Sunday to feed my family some good Q.

Bought used smoker. Should I clean it?

Its closer to a 1/2" than 3/8" and heavy as all get out. I should have it back home in a day or two. Having a base welded on. Then I will clean, paint and post photos. :-)

    Burn Barrel Preparation

We are not allowed to burn in the city limits so dont want to start a huge barrel fire. I am sure I can get away with small fires such as the type used in smokers, fire rings, etc. without raising eyebrows. Given this is just a burn barrel would I need to burn it out totally? I am hard pressed...

    Burn Barrel Preparation

I was able to get a barrel to use as a pre-burn barrel. It will not be used for smoking. It originally had one part of a two part water based epoxy in it. I am assuming that whatever was in it was not good to eat. The barrel also has a coating inside. If I wash the barrel thoroughly and run a...
