    I'll let ya know. It was all I could find around the office, unless I wanted to use some Italian dressing that expired on 7/15. Almost used the Italian until I saw the 2006 after the 7/15!

    no room in the cooler, its a small lunch box size so there really isnt much air space. i figger i'll take it out of the cooler about 10:30 so I can have it ready by 11:00 or so. Thanks guys.

    Well I just pulled my butt out of the smoker and put it in the cooler but lunch is not for another 3 hours! I have not let one rest for more than 1.5hrs, will it be ok?

    Thanks guys. I did turn it down a bit. I'm about 3.5 hrs in and its at 136. Man does it smell good and look good! I'll probably foil it in another hour or so and turn the heat back up a little to get it done by lunch time.

    I have checked the thermo a few times and its been within 5 degrees of my digital, so I think its ok. I have the setting on the heat control knob in the same place it always is so I guess it ok. Just seems like it went up pretty fast, or at least faster than I remember in the past.

    Ok need a little help. It at 96 and has only been in for a little over 1.5 hrs. I have not done a butt in a while and this seems like its going kinda fast? Thermo on the door says 250 and I know its pretty close. Should I turn down the heat or is it ok?

    I just have the small GOSM so I can't use very big chunks. I did have a bigger wood pan made that is about 12"x12". The good thing is the guys from the county came and cleaned it all up, moved it to the field beside my house!

    I had a bur oak that blew down in my front yard, ok to use some for the smoker? I think its a member of the white oak family so I would assume that it would be fine. I have never used oak, how does it compare to hickory or cherry? Should have enough wood for the rest of my life!

    GOSM Question

    Have you checked to see if the temp that reads on the thermo on the door is accurate? It could be hotter than what that thermo is reading, I have heard people say that its not always right.

    How efficient are propane smokers?

    I get about 40 hrs also on a 20lb tank. See how low you can get the temp before you make and mods on it. I can keep mine at about 180 and I have not made any mods to it at all, guess I got lucky.
