    Looks great, but with forced air won't you get ash in the cooking chamber too?  I could see the RF design keeping it off the food, but won't it accumulate under the heat plate?

    Sounds right to me, but I'm still looking for a drum to build my UDS with.  I think most here start with all of their intake vents open every time to get up to cooking temp faster, otherwise why have 3 or 4 intakes if you're not going to use them?  Once close to cooking temperature but still...

    If you are an American....

    Very cool, and I don't mean to kill anybody's buzz, but IMO one clip from France and one more from South Africa hardly counts as a "world reaction".  All of the other identified clips were taken in the US.

    I can personally recommend Backwoods summer sausage and trail bologna from lemproducts.com.  The trail bologna is a spicier version that is better as an hors d'oevre on a cheese tray than it is as sandwiches.

    I wouldn't worry so much about your crock pot liner breaking in the smoker.  The reason they break on the stovetop is the uneven heating.  The hot bottom sitting on the burner expands faster than the colder sidewall, and you get a nice big crack separating the two (mine was a Pyrex casserole...

    Ethanol will completely burn out of your drum.  Denatured ethanol has a couple percent unleaded gasoline mixed in to render it undrinkable for tax purposes, and the gasoline will also completely burn out of your barrel.

    Shierkahn--Your drum is "coated, but no liner"?  It's my understanding that the coating IS the liner, and if that's the case you may have a little moe work ahead of you than you think.

    Thanks for the wiki, meateater.  Looks like I was wrong about using it to cut the piece of lard from something like a discarded fat cap from a boston butt.  I'll probably be getting one too.
