I read the same reviews! Looks like it might be worth a shot for $3 or $4/bag. I sent this to my neighbor and we're talking about going in together on some. I'm with you though, not sure I or we need an entire pallet. I need to firm things up with my neighbor, but I will definitely call you...
I live in KC, although Baldwin City, KS is a ways away that would still be a good deal. I've never heard of Kingsford Charwood. Is it lump, similar to RO? Good stuff? I wonder what's damaged...
The only issue with starting with two and leaving room for a third is even air flow across your fire pan.
Petewoody has sent me the link before as well and it does look like they covered up the stock air inlet hole. I would suggest doing that just so you have complete control of the air coming...
Wow, sounds very interesting! If you can find it, that would be awesome...just because I'm curious now I don't have any builds planned or anything. I'm sure it's mostly air flow driven.
Dang! That's a nice deal. Good for you for losing the weight and for coming up with the awesome reward! Pics please!!! (of the smoker, not you )
Oh, and you may want to stop by the Roll Call area and allow everyone to give you a warm welcome!
Have you measured it to see if you did? There's really a lot that goes into even heat distribution. The main thing is that you got it to work!
How did you calculate a 45" long 4" exhaust? Just curious, cuz I'm lost. I think I may not be picturing it correctly in my head...
I have a feeling you'll excuse everything I say now, but from a heat transfer point of view it seems to make sense to have similar cross sectional openings. This way the air flow stays fairly uniform across the path of the air. If you have different size openings, you can create pressure and...
Ha! So much help I was! Yes, you're right. I quickly read through your post and for whatever reason my head thought you were saying it was a 4" radius. My bad home skillet.
I can't provide any help on the opening, but I can help with the math
The area of a circle is pi*r squared as you mentioned.
That would be = 3.14 * 4^2 or 3.14*16 = 50.24 square inches.
Very informational! That was a good experiment! Sounds like you proved that the foil method keeps more juice in the meat. I've only smoked one butt, but I will definitely try the foil next time.
Haha! That is true. I didn't originally think about that. Maybe the table top is there so you can stand on it!
Seems like one of those ideas that would be nice if you bought the grill and noticed that you could put your smoker on it for ease of fire access, but not something you would try...
This listing kinda makes me laugh. Isn't that just an 18.5" charcoal grill with the upper part of a WSM sitting on top??? They mentioned they bought it from an ex-Weber employee, so maybe it was a first, in-house edition (prototype???) of something like this...
Anyone know the best place to pick up RO around Kansas City? I looked at my nearest super wally world yesterday actually and the only brand of charcoal I saw was Kingsford. They did have 47 different variations/flavors, but I did not see any RO or lump at all.
Where do you go hunting at? All over? I used to pheasant hunt a lot, but only did water fowl a few times. Mostly more towards the middle of the state.
Thanks!...and thanks! Don't want to post any bike pics on the wrong forum, but check out more pics here...
