    Does the angle of my stove pipe from my SFB and CC make an enormous difference? I am building a unit similar to ATCNick's but the area my firebox will sit seems to flood a lot. If I elevated the SFB a little and irrigated it will be fine but might have to route the pipe down and back up.

    I considered this post when thinking up ideas for mine and am going to use unfaced/durock as Dave suggested. One other suggestion, as this is what I am going to do is if you plan on installing an air vent I would recommend using some High Temp Oven Paint on any exposed wood areas...

    Had some time to work on it so I framed it up. Used regular ole untreated whitewood 2'x4's and will coat with deck paint on outside. For the inside unfaced fiberglass insulation and durock.
