    Portuguese style garlic butt

Would this be similar to Brazilian style pork?  I used to live in a Brazilian neighborhood in Massachusetts and the Brazilian restaurants all had amazing meats.

oldschool, getting up early tomorrow morning to start the smoke.  I'm probably going to smoke it naked for four hours or so and then foil it.

first pork butt in MES 30" with qview

Ok boys, let's do this 8 lb. pork butt from the local K. Roger Rinsed, dried, rubbed with mustard and then spice rub: I made a rub from paprika, sea salt, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, coriander, chili powder, black pepper, mustard powder, cumin, and cayenne. Wrapped and into...

    Hello from Kentucky

Which Kroger?  Last time I was at Kroger (the one in Jtown near the Gene Snyder) they were way more than that.  I usually shop at that one or the huge one in Middletown on Shelbyville Rd.

    question about pork butt size

Yeah it seems almost like it's the 'law' around here that if you have an MES, you must get an AMNPS to go along with it.  First I need to get a nice thermometer, but the AMNPS is probably next on my toy list.

    Hello from Kentucky

Oh this dude definitely doesn't shop at Kroger for his meat.  He's into grass fed beef, locally sourced, etc.  I know there's a place in Bardstown he likes to shop at but I don't think he goes there all the time because he lives up in Oldham Co.

    question about pork butt size

Yeah, I've heard that and I had a butt in my old Brinkmann offset that I (mostly) did in the oven, and it turned out tasting just fine.  I may try to do it this way.  Thanks for the tip.

    question about pork butt size

Thanks for the quick response, I really appreciate it. Time shouldn't necessarily be an issue, however my MES is totally unmodded and as such will have to feed the damn chips in manually, so an overnight smoke is something I'm trying to avoid at this point since I like to sleep. ..and I am...

    question about pork butt size

Hi y'all, I'm going to try a pork butt in my MES 30" this weekend. This will be the first pork butt I've done in this (new) smoker. I'm planning on taking it over to my wife's grandparents to eat on Sunday, and I'm not sure how big of a butt I'd need for five adults.  We'd be having side dishes...

    Hello from Kentucky

Ryan, thanks for the welcome.  I have a former co-worker/friend who is a hardcore BGE guy and I think he gets his meat from a butcher someplace in town.  I was planning on asking him about that.
