Question on Pulled Beef
The chuck quarter or several chuck roasts would be your best bet. Cheap, a great fat content for taste. Also, my opinion, a combo of apple/cherry/mesquite spray in the last several hours with a apple juice mix of your choice. Lucky Eagles. -
Another drum is born
Nice build on the drum. Question for you and everybody else that has built a drum, ever thought of adding a water pan? I ask because I have a drum that I will get around to bulding eventually.- davidmcg

Topeka KS fruit farm
Hey I know there are a few smokers here besides myself in the Topeka KS area. Anybody ever buy any mesquite from Rees Fruit Farm? I know their apple and cherry is good, but since mesquite isn't native to these parts I wanted an opinion before I buy some. They sell it for 9.95 for a 20 pound...- davidmcg

Sasafras wood
Brisket sounds good, haven't done one anyway since April. Darned beef has gotten so expensive that we have been smoking lts of pork and yardbird as of late. Wish I would have had the sasafras today. Anybody have an opinion on sasafras wood? A friend of mine has a relative who is a truck driver that can bring sasafras wood up from down south. Before I order mine I want to get opinions and cooking methods and meat suggestions.- davidmcg

lump charcoal
As was posted earlier, Kingsford lump is full of small pieces, pops to much and doesn't burn as hot or thoroughly. You could almost do beeter than them in my opinion by going to a park and picking up twigs.- davidmcg

I am a loyal RO user, but my son trying to help out and not knowing exactly what he was buying bought some Kingsford lump for me last weekend when he bought the roasts. I tried it, didn't like it. Smoking ribs at Backyard Bash
Yup I agree, follow the 3-2-1 and you can't go wrong. I have had his ribs, to me they are not my favorite. I just posted it because they looked mighty tasty, and maybe somebody here or there might pick something up. Especially the old paper towel trick on the membrane. What he didn't show... -
