How can I monitor temp of foiled pork butt?

Normally I stick the probe the in, then foil around it, as the probe is already in. Honestly, it's six of one, half a dozen of the other! You will never seal it off perfectly.

Anyone know how long the sale at Home Depot goes?

New guy from IL that's interested in pellet grills

I've been toying with the idea of getting one myself. After lots of reading, looking at them in person and watching reviews, I've got to give it to GMG. The price is better, I've found very few complaints about customer service, they seem to hold rock steady temps and are built well. I'm sold on...

    Stacking?

It was always been explained to me to put poultry on the bottom, pork in the middle and beef on top. I cook on a large offset so I've never had a problem and can't offer more help than that above.

    IDevice IGrill2 Thermometer

Well, here's the good, the bad and the ugly on these things. I love it for what it is, but I hate it for what it could be. What do I mean buy this? For as much as it costs and as much as it can do, it's the little things that let it down. I needed mine in a hurry so I bought it locally, $160 and...

    Wanting a New Smoker

I agree with the above post 100%! Really, go check them out and compare them, for the extra $100 you get a LOT more grill! I have the Trailmaster offset, it's ok, but I've built a convection plate, filled it with lava rock, use a large water pan as well as seal it up really well! I'm still...

    GMG Davey Crockett owners ?'s

Yeah, I did know that, I was thinking an AMNPS would help subsidize the smoke flavor if I needed to. But thanks for the heads up.

    GMG Davey Crockett owners ?'s

Honestly not sure what I'd cook for six. Say eight burgers and warm up a couple cans of beans? I don't see cooking corn for a group that large as realistic. I think a pork butt, or three shoulders would be plenty for a group that size. Nor do I think I'll steam up five pounds of potatoes and...

    electric? propane? charcoal? please help!!

Im all about stick burners, but I'm getting old and tired! I'm looking into converting a double door commercial fridge build myself and was led to smoke daddy, http://www.smokedaddyinc.com/pellet-hoppers For the price, for what they do, for the fact you can piggy back multiple units, for the...

How long to smoke a Pork Loin Roast

    Most say 225ish for pork.

    GMG Davey Crockett owners ?'s

So I've realized bigger isn't always better! I love my offset, but fuel consumption is crazy! I smoked a pork shoulder last night, yup, 11lbs of charcoal a bunch of oak and hickory chunks! I'm in no hurry, so I want to chose wisely. But seeing the videos, then seeing it in person, man is it...

    Double reverse flow?

Yup, that's the idea. Anyone else have any input on potential problems with this idea? I'm not going to be offended, I promise, it's just a crazy idea I had and wondered why it hadn't been done before. So now I know draw may be an issue, any other thoughts?

Calling all welders, Looking for a machine!

I had, key word, a Chicago mig, just all but pulled my hair out using it! Burn for five minutes, wait twenty, burn for five, wait another twenty! I just couldn't even use it! I now have a Miller millermatic 135xp and couldn't be happier! I wish it was a bit bigger, I'd like to do 1/4" in a...

    Wanting to build a yarkosmoker's fireplace/smoker

North of my sister, 153d and Central off Terradyne. That's the hard pack clay. Depending on how big you want to go will determine the base you need. If you go full size, you'd need a 3'x8" footing around the base, then either cinder blocks or a pad on top. Half size a 4-6" pad with re-bar should...

    Waiting, Waiting, Waiting WAINTTTTTING!!!!!!!

Just guessing here, you didn't specify which way your temp gauge was off. In your first post you said you cooked at 250, if your temp gauge was reading 25deg high, that means you were cooking at 225, not 250. If that's the case, then yes, it will add a lot more time to the cook. It's like...

    Double reverse flow?

Don't freak out, I'm bored and just thinking outloud to see why it may, or may not work, throwing things against the wall to see what sticks if you will. So I see RV builds, well that won't work on my BTLE, the stack will be in the way of the three door IMO. So what's so crazy about a double...
