Hey folks...
I currently have a MB propane smoker. I did my first smoke this past weekend and the temps were all over the place. I didn't adjust anything and left the vents the same just to see the range of fluctuation...it would be as low as 205 and then as high as 245 within 15-20 minutes...
I also use evernote. I created a notebook for my BBQ log. I like evernote b/c it's easy to document with pictures and text. Also, it syncs across devices and I can add recipes and other ideas to it from the internet version of evernote.
I like the idea of the website that Sundown uses.
Thanks! I have a stick burner that I mixed charcoal/wood in...never had to work this hard to tweak the temp. I went to propane because I thought it might be easier to set the smoker and know the temp would be constant
I'm in the middle of a smoke with ribs and I need to leave the smoker (it'll be supervised by my wife, but she doesn't want to get her hands dirty)...They've been on for about 2 hours. I'm about to foil them for 2. If i'm not back in 2 and they stay in foil for 3 hours...will they turn out...
I bought the masterbuilt pro 2 door from HD a couple of weeks ago and this is my first time using it for a smoke. It keeps fluctuating between 215 and sometimes as high as 245. Is that a major problem? Anything I can do to help? I've been playing with the vents and currently have the...
I'm looking into buying the masterbuilt pro duel fuel from HD but some of the comments on here are making me second guess the decision. At first I was torn between electric/propane, but I think I've decided to go for a propane smoker and this one sounds good enough to get me started. Here are...
My favorite things to smoke are ribs and brisket. I have a vertical smoker now, so I have to separate the tip from the flat part of the brisket to get it in there, but it hasn't impacted the flavor too much (not that anyone has mentioned anyway)... My main concern is flavor followed closely by...
Hello Fellow Smokers..
I currently own a charcoal/wood smoker and enjoy using it, but my wife and I just had our first baby. I want to smoke more often, but maintaining the fire isn't as convenient with all of my extra duties around the house. I know you get what you pay for...but I'm hoping...
I just used oven cleaner and the fumes are kinda freaking me out. Hav epeople used oven cleaner and then smoked? I considered putting them on my grill to burn off any remaining chemicals.
Moloch, do you use the minion method? When I start, I have some unlit charcoal in my chamber...last time I went almost 8 hours before needing more charcoal (i added wood about every 90 minutes when it was all burnt up).
I use a dyna-glo vertical offset smoker and I love it. I use kingsford charcoal briquettes and put wood chunks on top. I'm getting ready for my second burn and need some advice about my Minion Method. I filled the charcoal basket about 3/4 the way with unlit briqs and lit about 1/2 a chimney...
Hey everyone,
I had a pretty successful first run with my smoker. I couldn't always tell when to add more wood/charcoal. I didn't want to add it too soon and risk the smoker over heating, but didn't want to wait too long. Any advice? I'm not using the extra wide, just normal dyna-glo...
Put a really thick line of the silicon between the smoker box and the chamber. I used steel wool and orange cleaner to get it good and clean before applying (wipe the orange cleaner off after use.
I've also been thinking of wheels..the metal on the legs isn't very thick so I've been nervous...
Today is my first time ever smoking. I have a brisket in that is now going on hour 6. It's been stalled between 145-150 for about 1.5 hours. Is this okay? I'm in no hurry, so I didn't want to disturb it too much. I'm using an iGrill2 to keep my temperature...
Thanks in advance!
