IMHO you will never get a great smoke flavor with a pellet grill of any type, I don't care what extra smoke device you add too it. I love my Traeger grill but I never expected to get heavy smoke flavor from it. Pellet grills give off a cleaner, lighter flavor, that many prefer. I really love...
I recently decided to try an electric razor because I have to wear a full face mask Cpap due to having sleep Apnea. I thought it would be handy to be able to just shave quickly around the mask area before I went to bed. I wanted to get the best one I could find, so after a lot of research, I...
Kamado Joe is releasing a new kettle type grill that looks very interesting. https://atlantagrillcompany.com/collections/kamado-joe-1/products/kamado-joe-kettle-joe It has some of the Kamado aspects as well as being a regular grill and it looks to be well priced.
I am very happy with my first gen Timberline 1300 and the new D2 model is even better. I was planning on buying the Pitts and Spitts but was offered an unreal deal on the 1300, so I got it instead. I haven't regretted my decision, my 1300 has done everything I have asked of it and I also like...
It's very easy to get a Kamado type grill, or as PPG1 stated the Masterbuilt Gravity fed grill started. Once your significant other tastes food from one of these grill she won't mind a little extra effort starting one.
To my knowledge the only grill maker that does cast iron is Goldens and they are Kamado style. https://www.goldenscastiron.com/ If your primary goal is grilling you shouldn't get a pellet grill anyway. Pellet grills are really nothing but a convection oven and although there are many that...
Bear I understand your point on the backup generator. I am located in a rural area of VA and we loose power for about every weather problem, thunderstorms, hurricanes, high winds, ice storms and it goes on. When I built my house20 years ago, I set it up for power loss. My heat is propane...
One accessory that I really use a lot is the Joetisserie. It is a game changer for lots of different cooks. Add a basket for it and you will never again do chicken wings any other way. Yes the charcoal basket it a must, also get a good remote temp monitor, it makes things much easier. I don't...
The biggest thing to learn is temp control. For low and slow you need to start with a very small fire and then start shutting the vents down when it gets about 50° from your target. It's very easy to increase the temps but hard to lower them. Always wait for about 10 minutes, after a vent...
Not sure what PBK stands for but you can't go wrong with the Kamado Joe. How many people do you usually cook for, do you need the larger grill? Kamado grills will cook mostly the same, the big difference are in the convivence of the design, ease of use, accessories and the warranty. If you...
Same as Thanksgiving, 20lb turkey on either the Timberline 1300, or my Kamado Joe Big Joe. Currently it's calling for showers in the morning Christmas day, so I will most likely be using my BJ. My grills sit on my uncovered deck and I don't mind smoking in the rain with my BJ but I will not use...
Any of the premium pellets, that don't use the tree bark in their pellets, will leave less ash than the others. Cooking pellet brand does not use the bark when they make their pellets and have less ash than the Lumber Jack, that I prefer. I think using the bark gives the pellets more flavor than...
It's only a matter of time before he gets torn up by some of those critters. You can tell, from how fat they are, that he is their primary source of food. I hate it when people try and make pets from wild animals.
If you unbox it and take all the insides out, the shell itself is not that heavy. You and another guy could easily place it where you want it, if you don't have a long carry. Assemble the stand first and place it where you want the unit. Then just carry the shell to the stand and place it into...
I love my Camp Chef Flat top 600. I use it all the time and one thing I really like about it is the removable top. It's like getting 2 grills in one. I just remove the top and I have a gas grill. It's great using the grill portion for doing extra sides and such, when my KJ and Traeger are full.
Look at RecTec for their large grills. They have some large commercial size ones. Pitts & Spitts also makes a good one. https://pittsandspitts.com/product/the-limousin/
